Rock-Ola 490 wiring

I have a Rock-Ola 490-1 and the unit keeps blowing a transistor in the power distribution assembly. I thought there might be a short in the wiring so I was checking all the output blocks of the power distribution assembly so I could look downstream for a short. I noticed a problem in the 15 pin Red ...

Scan switch problem in my Rock-Ola 490-2

I have a Rock-Ola 490-2. The scan switch does not seem to operate properly. Here is what happens: With the Scan switch in the off position, I get a constant slow rotation of the record magazine. With the Scan switch in the Operate position, I get a slow rotation. If I punch in a number to play a rec...

Rock-Ola power supply zap

I hav a Rock-Ola 490-2. I keep loosing the LED that indicates 26V DC on my power supply box. I replace it as well as the Zener diode and transistor that are used to create 28V DC. The 28 V goes to the LED and then gets reduced to 26V DC. The 26 V DC line goes to the main cpu board. I put a 100 m amp...

Rock-Ola non stop magazine spin

The record magazine on my Rock-Ola 490-2 rotates, non stop. When the switch is in either operate or scan, the rotation speed is fast. When the switch is in the off position, it spins at a slower speed. Any ideas on what is causing this problem?

Re: Rock-Ola 490-1

OK, I understand your comment. However, if I fix the existing board, I'll face the same issue. How likely is it that something downstream can zap the rectifier board?

Re: Rock-Ola 490-1

Rather than trying to debug the circuit errors, I'm getting a replacement board. Yes, I know that is the easy way out but then again, I'm not skilled in the debug, would need outside assistance.

Re: Rock-Ola 490-1

I've checked the input voltages to the rectifier PCB and they are ok. Some outputs are ok, some are not. Here is what I have at the 12 pin output socket. Pin Schematic Actual 1 24VAC 24.8 2 24VDC 0 3 24VDC 0 4 28VDC 44 5 45VDC 44 7 -28VDC -21 8 120VAC .2 9 12VAC 4, -12 10 s 120 0 11 ? 44 12 ? -21 Lo...

Re: Rock-Ola 490-1

The schematic hasn't spoken to me and I'm not very proficient at reading a schematic. It looks to me I can test the AC voltages at the 6 input pins and at the 12 pin output connector on the 54875 rectifier card. Do you agree?

Re: Rock-Ola 490-1

I think I should resolve the 26V dc LED being out. What is the easiest place to test to see if I have 26V DC? I do have the circuit diagram.

Re: Rock-Ola 490-1

from all the info in the thread, it appears microswitches are the only thing left for me to address. any suggestions on where to start? Will power always come to the mechanism power board or is it only on demand?

Re: Rock-Ola 490-1

I did check and the #1 micro switch is in the cam groove. Can anyone venture a guess as to why when I type in a selection, the selection number shows up for a few seconds and then goes out. Also, when I do the system tests, tests 1 and 2 (play selections) are bypassed completely.
