It was the RCA jack coming off the Tormat. The center pin wire was broken. Cut off the end and soldered both positive and negative and it's good to go!
Hi Ron, Sorry, yes "reject" not "reset" works well. I have another issue. After I reassembled the motor, the mech will play the first selection then not play the next selection. It just starts grabbing every 8 or 9 records in a row. I have to continually reject until it does one ...
Hi Ron, I followed your instructions in your manual for cleaning the motor, did the trick! It wasn't too bad for build-up but it made a difference. The coupler was a little loose also. The top two Allen key screws could have been a little tighter, they're good now. I'm missing rubber bumper undernea...
That answers the question I had in the back of my mind about those two lights above the pop meter. I couldn't figure out how they were switched. That was on the list of "things to do"... How sensitive are these units to cold? Since I recapped the auto-speed unit, it works but needs about 1...
Hi Ron, Sorry, I had an idea "molex" was the wrong word but for lack of a better... So far, easy fixes. Selector lights were just burnt out. The motor on the sleeve was seized. Disassembled and sprayed contact cleaner in the gaps near the seized shaft and it released, turning now. I'll be ...
Ron and Ron, Scary how spot on your guys are! When I reinstalled the clutch assembly, I had the detent on the wrong side of the switch. Corrected it and SUCCESS! Sweet music! You guys may not hear this enough, so thank you. I never would have been able to diagnose and solve both problems without you...
Hi Ron, I must be getting dumber in my old age... I followed your instructions on removing the clutch so I could give it a good cleaning. Reassembled and now I get the "scans twice, does not pick up record" problem. I does run much quieter after the cleaning... https://youtu.be/5HbgicDnw34...
Hi Ron, I changed the caps and the record doesn't "hang" anymore so that hopefully solves one problem. I pulled the mech again and gave it a very good lubing following your directions from your guide. I didn't want to disassemble until I tried it after the lubrication. I paid close attenti...
Hi Ron, I'm assuming from your comment that the 1200 you sent is to the replace the blue upper one and someone in the past didn't know what they were doing. I thought it looked too new to be in there. The solder joints are different also... OK, that gives me direction now. I'll update after the cap ...
Hi Ron, I received the two caps you sent me - thank you. I also received your mech guide. Good stuff! I know where the large cap goes but the smaller 1200 MFD cap you sent is stumping me. In the photo, the upper blue cap is 3300MFD and the lower paper cap is 2 MFD. Which one am I meant to replace? T...
Ron, Thank you for looking at the video. OK, I'm getting somewhere now. Not auto speed but a gunked up clutch yoke pin. I had the mech out and give it a good clean (or so I thought...) Sounds like I need your mech guide. New PM. Any suggestions on the best service guide for the rest of the machine. ...
Hi Ron, I tried unplugging the "mute" plug from the TSA and play a 33 1\3. No joy! It is doing the same thing. I posted a video to show the results. I tried multiple times, both with and without the mech plugged in to the amp. Almost every time, it just rejected the record like you will se...
Thanks for the info, Rob-NYC. I may have more than one problem then. Here's a quick video of it doing what it's doing. In this video, it hangs when the 45 is loaded, but its hit and miss. It will either hang or just return the 45 as soon as the needle gets to the record. https://youtu.be/fOUxhruYbQQ...
Ron, I'm using the SAE 3 in 1 motor oil. I did my reading here!...lol. All lubed up and re-installed the mechanism but still no-go. Scans and picks the record but as the needle touches, it returns the record and moves back to its resting position. It might be the cap in the auto speed module. That's...
