Re: Help identifying my console

You're describing a gazillion consoles that Magnavox made. A pic of the console and guts would be helpful. I picked up an expensive Astro-Sonic Imperial with reel-to-reel, worth about $900 back in the day, for $17.99 at a thrift store. Don't expect to retire any time soon from your sale. --BB 1965 G...

Re: Help figuring out model # and year of

Hopin someone in the forum can help me identify the year and model # of this vintage GE stereo console I purchased the other day. Sadly it does not work, but my goal once I can figure out year and model #, I can find someone in my area that can bring it back to working condition. What's up with the...

Re: Magnavox micromatic info

A late 1968 model. I have basically the same thing, but different cabinet. About 36-38 inches wide, single sliding lid, 12" woofers and 4x10 horns. Great sound for such a small package. --BB

Re: Issue with Magnavox Micromatic Cartridge

I have a circa 1974 credenza stereo with a new W716 turntable that has a replacement cartridge. The previous owner actually left the little case. The needle does not drag, but the brush definitely doesn't touch the record. It fits the same way as the original poster's cartridge but the needle does n...

Re: Trying to identify this Magnavox Stereo Console

Chicken poop is rich in nitrogen and makes for some of the best fertilizer you can find and best used for composting. When done right, it actually turns into a rich, dark material like potting soil. --BB

Re: Trying to identify this Magnavox Stereo Console

The model numbers should be posted on some stickers on the back/inside the cabinet. I don't know if yours is completely tube, but I have one where the TV chassis had a gazillion tubes, but the amp/receiver is solid-state. I ripped out the TV and made a storage unit in that space. I like the idea of ...

Re: Magnavox astro sonic twitter speaker replacement

Rob, The link you posted has expired. I was interested in where you say the diagram is wrong. I'm having trouble getting both channels to work but everything looks right. Thought this might have something to do with it. Thanks. I have found that when both channels don't work, it's due to dirty cont...

Re: General Electric G518 Stereo Console

Take off the back and get the numbers off the receiver/amp chassis. Don't go by cabinet or model numbers. I'm trying to get rid of this one. Some guy, cleaning out his mom's condo. didn't want it to go to someone who would turn it into a bar or fish tank. It seems to be a higher-end model with 12&qu...

Re: Magnavox stereo console - what year?

No, this is a W620-W622 series changer...looks more like a W621 that still had the dual wheels. I have several of those changers in my 1965 through 1968 Astro-Sonics. Those single-wheel units came later like the W714 and W801. --BB Bobby Basham Tucson, Arizona W620-Sample.jpg Turntable W700 Series.j...

Re: Magnavox micromatic info

I have a model very similar to this. It's a tube model from 1964 and also has AM/FM. If it were an Astro-Sonic, it would say so on the tuner face plate. They are always labeled. I'm not impressed with the sound, but keep it around for a piece of history. --BB Bobby Basham Tucson, Arizona Tube-01.jpg...

Selling some LP's...

Hey folks, I rarely come here, but have been a senior member for many years. I love my retro recordplayers and have a small collection of them, mostly Magnavox Astro-Sonics, and a few GE's and Motorolas on the side. I've got a few thousand LP's up in the house, about half inherited from others from ...

Re: Bye, Bye Radio Shack?

Indeed, when I was starting to purchase electronics back in the 70's, Radio Shack was a hot place to check out. And being into "electronics" it was one of my favorite places, among Allied, Lafayette, and others. But once the new millenium hit, and they started with computers and cellphone...

Re: Magnavox 1p3837

Some type of early 70's model. Look at that squared turntable and rectangular 45 adapter, looks like a spin-off of the older W800 series. --BB
