Re: Columbia Viva-tonal Model 810

I own a Viva Tonal 800 and just went through some of those problems with my motor. I especially didn't know how to connect the START lever correctly. If you need some pics let me know. Mine does have a manual stop mechanism. Marc. 951-302-0750

Edison radio-phonograph

As a collector of Edison phonographs, mainly Diamond Disc Phonos, I suddenly realized that I would like to have a C-2, or C-4, or one of the radios R-1, R-4, R-6, R-7 etc. that the Edison Co. made from 1928 to 1930. If there are any owners out there, I would to communicate with you about the pros an...

Re: Just aquired a 1929 Majestic radio/phono.

I just removed the tone arm and the phono motor as well. I'm sending the tone arm to George Epple to rebuild. Hope I can get it all put back together right. Does anyone know if the tone arm was supposed to have an automatic shut off as well as an automatic turn on? When it was together, the tone ar...

Just aquired a 1929 Majestic radio/phono.

I am having a problem with my new 1929 Majestic model 181 radio phonograph. I am trying to take the pickup off to be rebuilt, but I can't get the screws off. So I tried to take the entire tone arm off. Bad mistake. this is much more complicated that a 1929 Victor RE-45 phono. The Majestic has lots ...

Re: Brunswick Cortez

I thought I was the only one who had one of these. Your cabinet looks like it's in good condition! I have a medallion that looks the same as the Cortez medallion, but it doesn't say Cortez. It is a Brunswick medallion. $10. I also have a reproducer, $50. Marc.

Re: 1926 Brunswick Panatrope phono has loud 60 cycle hum.

I just grounded the chassis which got rid of most of the 60 cycle hum! Sounds like Matt knows what he's talking about! I didn't know where I could get to the chassis, since it is covered by a primitive metal shroud, so I clamped the wire to the shroud and put the other end in the ground hole in a so...

Re: 1926 Brunswick Panatrope phono has loud 60 cycle hum.

Come to think of it, my repair man did say to try to ground the chassis with a spare wire. I'll try that. He did say that he only replaces capacitors that are bad instead of replacing all of them. Also he did say that a previous repairman had rewired the chassis moving the tube wiring to left in ord...

1926 Brunswick Panatrope phono has loud 60 cycle hum.

I just got my 1926 Brunswick Panatrope back from the shop. It is a phonograph only model P-9 with a chassis that was made by RCA and looks like a RCA Model 104 speaker, sometimes called a Tomcat. It works now, but has a loud 60 cycle hum. I guess it could be a bad transformer? any ideas of how to f...

Re: Victrola 9-54 at cowboy museum

After doing some research, I found out that Hoot Gibson's 9-54 is not at his home, but at the Western Electric Radio Museum in Virginia City, Nevada. Look under Floor Model Radios. http://www.radioblvd.com/
