Re: Seeburg 222 restoration

John, the squeal is from the ground return plungers under the Tormat. put a drop of oil on your finger and run it down the center of the ground plate. As for eliminating the stepper, there isn't any overriding reason to do so though it can be eliminated. In this diagram of the W-i ckt: http://s1192....

Re: 1957 Seeburg 100

Sooo, Only negative raps are that I am worried about loading / transporting it, and the card selector v-shaped plastics are missing. I know the plastics can be replaced but are pricey. -Joe The fact that these parts are missing raises warning signal. This is a fairly desirable machine in terms of l...

Re: can i run my LPC phono pickup into a home stereo receiver?

i'm still getting a kind of sibilance distortion, mostly on cymbal crashes and vocal sibilance. Rob, what you mentioned seems to be involved. i may get to recapping the TSA-1 when i get home in November, but i was also considering finding a TSA-7 and working with something like that. wouldn't that ...

Re: Seeburg AQ160 random selections

Mick, where I disagree w/Ron is on the plunger ground return. It is a good idea to eliminate this as it does cause erratic tripping. However you -must- add a fuse inline (use no more than 1amp-fast) and disconnect the one in the mech. There is no electrical justification for the plunger return and i...

Re: Need help with Seeburg V3WA Wallbox

Ron, to be clear about the keyboards & lube, what I have used for the past 30+ years are products specifically intended for contacts in electronics equipment such as those made by Caig, CRC and one sold by Radio Shack. I'd also caution against using graphite in these keyboards as this can become...

Re: If I glue two 45rpm records together, how will it play?

I am going against the grain here (no surprise) I have used two records in Seeburgs since I got my first machine as a Christmas present in 1969. I also have about 8-11 "bi-packs" in locations. I do not glue them, but where possible I use two thin vinyl disks. I have never had any problems ...

Re: Need help with Seeburg V3WA Wallbox

"Guy", you don't take anything apart to lube the box. There are gears to the left of the motor that need a drop or two of oil as well as on their shafts. The motor shaft needs a drop on both left and right sides. There are also gears behind the wafer and these can be hard to get to but use...

Re: help needed - AMI Continental 1 - sound deteriorates over paying time

Eitan, this can be mechanical due to a binding tonearm. Or, if the original pickup is used (GE) it can be that the cantilever us being pulled toward one pole piece due to too much lateral friction in the pivot bearing. the trip switch may be loading the arm and causing the problem. First test is to ...

Re: Seeburg Pickering gold cartridge 45 rpm

Ron, on the Mra5 it was 1 meg then 47K. On the hfma1 it was 220K if the "scratch" switch is at min thus out of the circuit. I don't have much experience with the red mono carts, but R&C loading of a cart does create and shift peaks and dips in response. Given the realities of the cart,...

Re: Seeburg Pickering gold cartridge 45 rpm

Larry, no damage will be done by connecting the "wrong" cart, but if either the output is too high it might cause distortion. Another factor is input impedance and its effect on cartridge performance. When a cart works into a load that is lower than intended it can create reactance in the ...

Re: Seeburg Pickering gold cartridge 45 rpm

Larry, if the stylus is replaceable it will fit into a slot such as this on a black cart: http://s1192.photobucket.com/user/Rob-NYC/media/IMG_20160920_220443_0_zpskp3f6ntz.jpg.html?sort=2&o=228 The styli came with a tiny cardboard tool that slipped onto the angled portion of the cantilever and i...

Re: Seeburg USC-2 w/ TSA 10 code B amp.

Hi Rob, Ron I tacked the resistors to the RCA connectors, plugged in an MP3 player to the input RCA's on the amp and I got music!! It was heavy on the bass, and the right channel wasn't the same volume (a little less) as the left, but there was NO distortion or "noise". The stabistor is i...

Re: can i run my LPC phono pickup into a home stereo receiver?

well, i'm sure i *can* but will it be a sufficient match? i'm getting distortion... it's probably my TSA--1 which i have yet to recap... but i'm tempted to find a small home-style component phono amp with speaker outputs and run that in the meantime. i'm actually running a 340D cart on it's proper ...
