Re: Hello fellow phono enthusiasts!

The Collaro Conquest is an amazing changer and performs well when well maintained. The Shure M 44-E really improves it too. I love this old mechanism and gained my love and understanding of Collaro changers maintaining and servicing Magnavox consoles (I love a good Maggie console, especially better ...

Re: American Top 40

These records were intended only for broadcast use. And since these programs are still aired, the Casey Kasem voiceovers and the AT 40 trade dress are still protected. So, Premier Radio Networks who currently own and air the program may have objected to the sale of these LP discs on eBay. Premier ow...

Thanks for clarification on this Ron, you have forgotten more than most have remembered on Seeburg jukeboxes. I love Seeburgs but wish they had taken regular 1/2" mount cartridges due to good styli becoming ultra-scarce items.

Re: Suggestions For a Turntable?

Also, Seeburg Background Music System records need a special stylus. .7 mil will damage them. Best to use a .5 mil conical.

Re: My Two Cents About "Collectable" Records

If the music is what you want, buy the CD for now. This will most likely be reissued on LP in the next year or two. Due to the demand for it. Remember, most 1990's bands on LP were pressed in very small numbers to start with. Due to limited demand then. But with the vinyl revival, you have good odds...

Re: How to reconize a MONO 45rpm

Post 1968 Mono records require a Stereo cartridge with vertical compliance and tracking at 5 grams or under with a .7 mil stylus. Earlier mono records are true mono and play with normal mono playback equipment. In 1968, many older Scully lathes and older cutting heads were replaced with Neumann SX 6...

Re: Original stereo 45's from the late 50's early 60's

It is not OK with Stereo records and post-1968 Mono records due to the lack of vertical compliance, tracking at too heavy stylus pressure, and the 1 mil stylus tip. Seeburg offered an improved Redhead cartridge for the older Blackhead setups allowing lighter tracking, vertical compliance, and the .7...

That is a Glaser-Steers changer from all appearances. Which are decent changers. I like them.

Re: Phillips portable record players

This was a better portable on record wear than many. They were sold in the USA as Mercury products (yes, Mercury Records who was purchased in 1961 by Philips of the Netherlands). And a design icon. Very nicely styled and sounded very decent.

Re: High End Record Changers

The Fisher-Lincoln changer was excellent for mono, too much vertical rumble for Stereo and tracked a bit too heavy for Stereo use. And a beast to repair, very complex mechanism.

Actually Akai made motors and tape transports for the Roberts/Rheem company. Akai began selling their tape recorders in the USA under their own name in 1965 with the M-9 forwards.

Remember that if he sold it, that they fetch over $1000 in nice order. They are not cheap buys in nice condition.

Re: High End Record Changers

The absolute best Stereo era record changer was the Thorens TDW-224. Which was over $500 in the middle 1960's with any average good magnetic cartridges. Never used in factory built radiograms or consoles. Dual and Miracord were the best used in very high end European consoles, followed by Garrard's ...
