Re: Gripper arm alignment - Works almost fine !

Hi Ron, If the record separators are bent, which is very possible, I can not say it is super apparent though. In such a case, is it ok to manually force the separator with pliers ? I'll add that I can move the carousel in both directions with my bare hands for a few millimeters, which is all the gri...

Gripper arm alignment - Works almost fine !

Good day, I'm wondering what to adjust on my Rockola 429 : The gripper arm works fine at selecting discs and putting them on the turntable at one exception, one space on the carousel is not in alignement with the gripper arm. The disc stays in place, the gripper grips nothing ... If I stop the movem...

Re: Comments request : Why do I have to stretch this spring ?

Thank you all guys for the input.

I have the spring in place the right way, this works great now. I thought I had to see the idler turns before putting the turntable on ....

Thank you,
Jean

Re: Comments request : Why do I have to stretch this spring ?

Interesting Eddie, I believe that the rubber on my wheel is a little thin.

Re: Comments request : Why do I have to stretch this spring ?

Ok. I removed the stretched spring, took another brand new one and attached it like it's supposed to and put the turntable on. Works great. I am amazed. I thought that I had to see the idler turns BEFORE putting on the turntable. I am a newbie  On the picture one can see that the spring still ...

Comments request : Why do I have to stretch this spring ?

Good day, This forum is always very helpful, so I submit this to your attention. Why do I have to stretch this spring so much for the idler wheel to spin along with the motor shaft ? I did ordered a proper replicated spring, this is the one you see on the picture. Any comments, suggestions, observat...

To answer to one thing you said, I do not see the ramp being warped.

Re: Rock-ola 429 table not spinning

Hi Eddie, the pivot is now unblocked and the wheel does contact the motor shaft. But I would prefer to wait for a new spring before posting a new pic, I know I will have comments on using the wrong spring ;) Unless you insist ! With the wrong spring attached, I get a irritating fluctuating sound but...

Reject issue : Tone arm is scratching the discs while rejecting

Good day, Here's a little question for you if you have a minute, and perhaps it may help others in the future : When rejecting a disc, the tone arm of my Rock-ola 429 touches the disc. The needle scratches the disc and make that sound you do not want to hear when you care about your records ! The to...

Re: Rock-ola 429 table not spinning

I will replace both the wheel rubber and spring for sure. Am I right thinking that the "out of key" fluctuating sound most likely comes from having a tired wheel rubber and the wrong spring ? Is this a common-classic thing ? For me all this is new let me tell you ! Thank you for all the in...

Re: Rock-ola 429 table not spinning

Hi Ron and all, I did clean the idler wheel rubber and I'm still dabbling with a spring I bought at the hardware store (Victoria Glass is on vacation at the moment, I would prefer obviously the right spring). I am successful playing a record at 45 rpm now, I have 45 rpm (I even calculated it) but th...
