Reducing AM interference

I have a few older AM desk radios in my house that I enjoy listening to baseball on, but after adding dimmers to most of my lights, the interference is downright terrible if I have the lights on. When the lights are off, crystal clear. I've tried some basic things like ferrite beads on the cords and...

Re: RCA New Vista - record and radio stopped working

I have no problem not using it until you get to work on it. I just like to know the reasons things are happening.

Re: RCA New Vista - record and radio stopped working

Could you give me a better technical explanation of what may be going on? The unit has been singing nicely since the late 1980s, used maybe once or twice a year at most in the last 25 years. It's been unplugged in the year or so since it was last used, at which time the record player was making beau...

RCA New Vista - record and radio stopped working

Hi all, I've finally taken possession of my father's (and previously great grandmother's) RCA New Vista (see here ). Sadly, when it arrived at my home, it seems that the record player has stopped working. Here's the most detail I can provide: The last time he used the record player was several month...

Re: Looking to date an RCA Victor New Vista. Plus modernizat

Thanks for the insight, MattTech. I'm actually in Philly myself, but I'm a few years away from having a house to put this in. If you're still around you might just hear from me.

Re: Looking to date an RCA Victor New Vista. Plus modernizat

Neither my father nor I have no interest in ever selling it to a collector. It's a family item, and if I can't repurpose it to be a piece to use in my home, it's going to remain in my parents' basement until my father dies. I was considering hiring someone to design a custom center casing which woul...

Everything on it works perfectly. I just think a newer TV with digital tuner would be more useful than the analog black and white set. But if it's truly not doable I'll pass.

Looking to date an RCA Victor New Vista. Plus modernization?

Hi everyone. New poster here. My father has his great grandmother's RCA Victor New Vista stereo/phono/TV system in the basement, and I have two questions. First, I was hoping to get a date for the system. Second, I wanted to know if anyone has any experience "modernizing" one of these. Spe...
