Seeburg M100C amp, R1 resistor

The R1 w.w. resistor in the Seeburg MRA3-L6 amp is suppose to be 1200 ohms (5%), 10 w. It has been previously replaced with a 2000 ohm w.w. resistor. Should a resistor with the original specs be installed? What effect would the higher ohm resistor have?
Thanks, Steve.

Re: Seeburg M100C Cap replacement question

Hi Ron, Before I finalize the attachment of the new cap to the terminal strip, can you please verify that I correctly followed your instructions by looking at the attached picture. At the terminal strip, I cut the green wire that came from the center tab on the old "can cap". I attached th...

Seeburg M100C Cap replacement question

I've replaced all the capacitors in the WSR5-L6 receiver except for the C4 electrolytic can (300 mfd, 50 v). I don't want to remove or restuff the can. Would someone please tell me which of the wires on the can tabs should be cut in order to take the old cap out of the circuit. Also, how should the ...

Seeburg M100C credit unit

I'm restoring a "C" and the CCU is complete and has 3 credit coils. I would like to be able to make selections using coins, and allow 6 plays for a quarter. Will this unit allow 6 selections for a quarter? If not, can this unit be modified to allow 6 for a quarter? My guess is that it need...

Re: Seeburg M100C 15" speaker resistance values

Hi Ron, Yes, that information was in the service manual where you indicated. I missed it. The values stated for the speaker in a MRA3-L6 are 8 ohms voice coil, 5600 ohms (hot) field coil. Could you please tell me the proper way to determine the hot field coil resistance. Does "hot" literal...

Seeburg M100C 15" speaker resistance values

Ron, Can you please provide me with the "C" voice coil and field coil resistance values for the 15" speaker, and also tell me which speaker wire color pairs test each coil. I see a blue, yellow and white, plus a black "jumper" at the plug (colors may be off a bit due to age)...

Seeburg M100C glass grill tube and spoon - help

The glass grill tubes on the 100C were installed with protective black foam cushions on the lower end where the tube went into the wood, and with a foam cushion and a brown paper "insulator cap" on the top where the tube inserted into the metal spoon. The original glass tubes are in good c...

Seeburg M100C - need grill cloth installation help

Can someone please describe how the original grill cloth was installed. There was a thin strip of masonite that was removed from the top part of the speaker board. This strip was tacked to the speaker board and somehow held the top edge of the grill cloth in place. How should this strip be installed...

Seeburg M100C are tube substitutions possible?

The following tubes are in the MRA3-L6 amp of my M100C. Can a substitution be made for any of these tubes that would perform the same or better? 6L6-G, 5U4-G, 6SL7-GT, 6SK7-GT, 6SN7-GT, 6J7. Also, what is the significance of the suffix letter (B) after a tube's main identification? For example, 6SN7...

Seeburg M100C capacitors

Hello Ron,
I'm going to re-cap my Amp and Receiver (MRA3-L6, WSR5-L6) and I have a question about the aluminum can caps. Are those normally replaced? If so, are exact replacements available?
Thanks,
Steve

m100c mirror attachment

What type of adhesive should be used to attach the replacement mirrors to the replacement masonite boards in the mirror holder frames? These are at the back sides of the m100c mechanism compartment. I don't want the adhesive to "bleed through" and discolor the mirrors.
Thanks,
Steve

Seeburg M100C receiver power cord replacement

Hi Ron, The short power cord on my WSR5-L6 receiver needs to be replaced (insulation cracked). I would like to use a 3 prong grounded cord. How should I connect the ground wire to the receiver, and how should the ground to the amp be connected. Do the other components also need to be grounded (mecha...

Re: Seeburg M100C color wheel motor gear box

Thanks for your response Ron. I was able to resolve the other questions I had in my initial post, and this is an FYI follow up. -The color wheel motor assembly was manufactured by a company called Siemon Engin. Co. Once the gear box was cleaned the name could be seen embossed on the gear box housing...
