Re: Magnavox Astro Sonic Console

I had a similar problem with my '60, as described on this thread: http://www.phonoland.com/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=2709 Today, that phono sounds great in both channels. The moral of my story is that the resistors should not be ignored; while you're in there changing capacitors out, check the value ...

Re: ROLL CALL...

Hello; as far as the dead channel is concerned, I've been there with my '60 Maggie (great pet name for these machines). Sounds great on both channels now, but it did take the isolation and replacing of three dead resistors. The caps were replaced wholesale while I was about it. Starting with what yo...

Re: Magnavox speed problem

Hello, and welcome to the forum! While I'm not familiar with that model, I had a similar problem with the turntable in my Magnavox (only mine was stuck on 33). There are some parts underneath the turntable platter that need lubrication and time has dried them out. Those parts need new oil (only don'...

Re: Trying to find a Magnavox schematic

Progress report: of the four 470K bias resistors for the 12AX7 plates, two of them were dead and another was 50% out of tolerance. When I saw that, I knew this puppy would need a component-level rebuild. I'm doing it one stage at a time, as the work-day and chores allow. Thanks for the input, MattTe...

Re: What is this Edison find?

A bit late adding to the thread: that record was meant for dealers, and features excerpts from releases that were current at the time (1926 to early 1927). No direct recording there, just dubs from other Diamond Discs. Those 12" Edisons are nice to have, since they're not common at all, but you...

Re: newbie with a question.

That's a very nice machine! The C19 Chippendale was the top-of-the-line disc machine for Edison, through the early 20s anyway. The crank is actually available on-line at the following site, almost 2/3 of the way down the page: http://www.phonophan.com/parts.html Have fun with that! It's a great phono.

Trying to find a Magnavox schematic

Hello, folks - this is my first post here. I've been reading the posts for some time, and I always learn something. Now I have something specific to ask about that doesn't seem to have an easy answer. I've got a 1960 Magnavox stereo here, 1SR281F to be exact, that was performing fine until yesterday...
