Re: Bad records..

I just got three new 12" records with center holes too small to fit the Collaro Conquest spindle. I had to carefully use a reamer and a vacuum cleaner to enlarge the holes.

Re: Bad records..

The problem if the pickup setting down into music on some records while dropping off the edge of other records has three causes: 1. The record companies can't agree where to start the music. 2. Some 12" records (especially RCA Dynaflex) have a raised rim that the stylus slides down a slope on o...

Re: Bad records..

I have one record where, when placed on the turntable, the outer edge of the record is *perfect* - no lateral movement whatsoever. However, the grooves DO have lateral movement. Very strange - the onyl one I've ever seen like that. The outside edge is trimmed after the record is pressed. The trimmi...

Re: Early 70s Magnavox ac cord wiring.

The third wire turns the amp on when you switch on the turntable. Make sure is is not exposed.

The green wire on the photo is the ground wire.

Re: Connecting two record changers

Or get one of those little DJ mixers with inputs for two turntables. Hook it to an aux input on an amp. I found a used one for $25.

Try Howard W Sams.

They sold folders of schematics and service data for many years. Now they sell CD-ROMs containing these documents. Google them.

Re: Please ID This Record Changer Accessory

I know what it is because I have one. I also have the Webster-Chicago 356 it fits. It goes on a Webster-Chicago 356 shelf-type record changer to extend the record shelf to play 7" records. Here is a picture of the changer with the 7" extension attached, You turn the record shelf to the 10&...

Re: Tonearm resetting

I was referring to the parts that lock the springs that float the entire record changer assembly so it doesn't bounce around on its floating springs. Between the record changer itself and the base or record player cabinet it is mounted in is a spring suspension. Push down on the edge of the changer ...

Re: Antique vinyl presses

It has always been done the same way since the mid 78 days. First they use a record lathes to cut a lacquer master of an entire side. A second master is made for the other side. Then they electroplate nickel onto the lacquer master to produce a metal master. This has ridges instead of grooves. Then ...

Re: Bad records..

Actually the center hole is molded at the same time as the grooves. If the hole is off center, then the hole was off center when they made the stamper. So all of the few hundred records that stamper made were off center by the same amount. Some of those noises are made by a bad stylus playing the re...

Re: BSR UA8 Part id?

That does not look like a turntable part. It looks like a part used to hold the cabinet together, to route wires, or to stop a tilting record changer mount in the level position.. Look for another similar part that is still in place. It may not even belong to the unit. I have found items inside ster...

Re: Tonearm resetting

Check to see if the transit locks are still engaged. Your uncle probably locked them for shipping (to keep the turntable from bouncing). But you have to unlock them before the unit plays properly. A locked transit can cause the change cycle to repeat on certain Collaro/Magnavox units. Holding the kn...

Re: 1959 Voice of Music model 582 modular stereo

One difference might be the diameters of the largest speakers on the unit. You are not going to get the bass you got out of a 12" speaker of that vintage with a 6" or 8" speaker of that vintage.

That vibration in the wood is a defect.

Re: Help with new Magnavox console w/ W620 turntable

Unlock the transit locks (two or three sliding rectangles on top at the edges of the chassis). The changer won''t cycle and the drive is unsteady if these are locked. Move them in the direction opposite the "Lock" arrows.

Lock it to ship the unit. Unlock it before playing it.
