Re: AMI C Record Rack Motor Repair/Brushes

Thanks Ron.
I'll have to take em out and measure. Measure twice, buy once....
I never thought of hardware stores having motor brushes, but it does make sense.

I didn't know there are any appliance repair stores left!

AMI C Record Rack Motor Repair/Brushes

I have an AMI C Record Rack Motor that is not turning. I suspect the brushes may be worn out, I know they are not worn evenly.

Does anyone know where I can buy some new brushes, or send my motor out for repair.

(I am planning on seeing if it works as a generator later tonight)

Re: Cleaning the SURFACE of an AMI C-E Record Changing Mechanism

But Ron, won't the steel wool strands act like a fuse and burn out? Yeah, I have all the electrics removed. selector magnet banks are covered, and will be examined, shop vacd, air blown and examined again so bits o' steel do not clog the mech. I also have some "synthetic steel wool" that I...

Re: Cleaning the SURFACE of an AMI C-E Record Changing Mechanism

I have found that #0000 steel wool works well, but gets greased up quickly. Doesn't remove any paint. I tried it in an inconspicuous spot for now. Removes the stains, and leaves a nice sheen. I will see if it discolors over the next few days... I would rather not have to clearcoat it. Any suggestion...

Re: Cleaning the SURFACE of an AMI C-E Record Changing Mechanism

(ron, I think any parts left over will be stained, or burned. I don't know for sure, as I haven't used your method yet, but I have been tempted!) I tried the Laquer Thinner (Klean-Strip green), Mean Green, and Simple Green. Have not been able to get any of those stains off -. Is the klean-strip bran...

Re: Cleaning the SURFACE of an AMI C-E Record Changing Mechanism

But Ron, won't it all be discolored then? The nice thing about being out in the middle of nowhere in Nevada (besides no traffic) is the lack of the strict california laws on everything! But, finding a dry cleaner is the hard part. I ended up buying a bottle or PERC on e-pay, just in case the other s...

Re: No Key - How Open NSM Firebird

Hi Ron, There is almost nothing left to the lock. There is a portion of the "skin" of the lock - which I tried turning using a few large flat screwdrivers to form a thick blade. Didn't do anything. The lock is really just a shell of itself, a large hole is really all that is left (talking ...

No Key - How Open NSM Firebird

I picked up an NSM Firebird today. The guy I got it from knew nothing about it, no keys, no mounting bracket. Just wanted to get rid of it. The right hand side lock (on the other side of the hinges) has been drilled out. How can I open the Juke? I do not know what model this is, as I cannot get insi...
