Re: Orthoponic Hi Fidelty Questions

Sounds like you have some grounding noise from the ceramic pick-up. May need a new cartridge or in the least make sure the contacts are secure. I don't really play any 45's on mine so not sure how to answer the question about the adapter, does it play other records at the correct speed? Good luck -Ted

It's from 1958. Stereo was relatively new on the consumer market though recordings were being produced. In '59 RCA started shipping "Dual Amplifier" models in several cabinet styles similar to this one. If the sound is dropping in and out on the phonograph only...It's the cartridge. I got ...

Orthophonic

Yes, It is an orthophonic model. Originally mono; I added an additional amplifier from a similar victor model so it plays in stereo now with each amp dedicated to it's own right or left channel. I was lucky as both the original amp and the add-on are both shf-3 so the sound quality is matched. I had...

I think you'll be pleasantly suprised

I'm not sure what the tube compliment or speakers are for the Grundig, but I couldn't be happier with the sound I get from my Victor. If all the components are working right I'm sure you'll like the sound of the Majestic as well. Regards, Ted

A friendly hello

Hi I'm Ted and wanted to introduce myself and show of my favorite piece which I currently use daily as my primary Stereo. I use my PC soundcard to playback my mp3's and CD's throu the tape input sections of two amps in the console. The Changer works also. A nice old guy in California fixed it for me...
