Re: Vacuum tube failure

Thanks foxtrotxray/Ron/Rob, I wish there was a thank or upvote button on this forum. It's good to know that it isn't an immediate concern, but I may look at a complete amp rebuild some time before the year is out. I don't know anything of the history of the tubes, but I have noticed on rare occasion...

Re: Wurlitzer 2300S Playrak registering too few credits

Just a quick update for anyone else that should ever have this problem; I found a 20x3.5x0.2mm expansion spring a perfect replacement for the missing originals.

Vacuum tube failure

So, I posted on the forum a couple of weeks back about an issue I'd been having with the Playrak on my Wurlitzer. A couple of new springs later and it's registering the correct credits every time, so thanks for the help there. While working inside the machine, I noticed that one of the vacuum tubes ...

Re: Wurlitzer 2300S Playrak registering too few credits

Ok, so I think I have this one figured out now. As you said, Rob, it was a mechanical issue. Taking a closer look, there are a couple of springs missing from the hub and lever/lockout assembly. As soon as the coin magnet triggers, it looks as if there are a couple of catches that should hold the rel...

Re: Wurlitzer 2300S Playrak registering too few credits

Thanks chaps, I'll take a look at the Playrak again later this week and see if the mystery capacitor is fitted. As you say, perhaps it's mentioned in the service manual as a retrofit, even though that isn't explicitly stated. If it is a mechanical issue, I think the bounce may be possible to remove ...

Re: Wurlitzer 2300S Playrak registering too few credits

Rob, your schematics are a million times clearer than mine, thanks for sharing them. I got the 200mfd figure from the troubleshooting section of the 2300 service manual, but I can't say as to what value is shown on my schematics. Hopefully there will be some value printed on the old cap, but I'm sti...

Wurlitzer 2300S Playrak registering too few credits

I'm having some issues with the Playrak on a Wurlitzer 2300 registering too few credits. This doesn't happen all the time, though it's pretty much 50/50 as to whether a quarter gets you the correct four credits, or registers only three. What appears to be happening is that the accumulator wheel is b...

Thanks Rob, that's exactly what I was looking for.

Many thanks.

Wurlitzer 2300S selector mechanism

Hi, I'm currently looking at the schematics for the selector mechanism on a Wurlitzer 2300S, and could really use a bit more information on the mechanical operation of the mechanism. I can follow most of the system through the circuit diagram, but I'm confused as to the operation of the latch switch...
