Re: rockola grand salon 468 jukebox advice please

my 474 has this switch and it (sometimes) stops the mechanism when the dome (lid) is opened. I also have a Rockola 474 which should have this switch fitted, It is missing. What it does is to force the machine back into the Operate position when the dome cover is lowered. The times I have left mine ...

Re: rockola 460 credit unit

Hi Phil If the credit unit is indeed the electronic version. Then there should be a large 40pin LSI chip on the circuit board. If this is the case then there should be a relay soldered on the circuit board in the bottom corner. It may be marked K1 It has two sets of normally open contacts. 1 set ope...

Re: Attn: "Newbies"

Thanks for that Ron. I totally agree with you. I too am a relative newbie to the jukebox world, but in no way a newbie to the world of electronics or electromechanics. If one thinks they are capable of repairing such a piece of equipment, then they should at least understand the importance of a serv...

Re: rockola 459 help!!

As another test. Assuming K3 relay doesn't pull in, remove it's cover, and put the machine in the write-in mode (make selection confirm last button latched) then manually operate the K3 relay, very gently push it's armature down just briefly with a short insulated stick such as a biro case, and see ...

Re: rockola 459 help!!

Hi On further studying of the schematic (for my machine at least) K3 the red write-in relay has it coil connected through a "reciever jumper" plug. Do you know if this is fitted ? Was the machine ever attached to a wall box ? We need to establish if K3 is pulling in when selecting 101 Pete

Re: rockola 459 help!!

Hi Robbie. I suspect that in your case it may just be correct that K7 is missing. K7 is referred to as the "dual carriage relay" and is used in 160 play machines such as the 460 and my 474. Yours being a 459 is a 100 selection machine, am I right? on the 160 play machines K7 is used when a...

Re: rockola 459 help!!

Hi. The write-in arm is operated by a separate motor, this is notorious for seizing. It may be protected by a circuit breaker which may have popped out. Check those are all reset first along with any fuses etc. Usually however the motor has seized due to congealed grease. WARNING DO NOT attempt to d...

Re: Rock Ola 454 selection.

Hi Tony. Good, we're getting somewhere. As Ron has mentioned, it sounds like a problem with either (or both) of those motors. The Mechanism CB is in fact a resettable fuse, and is tripping because too much current is being drawn through it. Get your "engineer" friend to help you drop each ...

Re: Rock Ola 454 selection.

Hi Tony Can you be more specific about the "intermittant selection fault" What are the symptoms ? Can you add credits ? Do the 1st, and 2nd selection lights come on ? Does the button unit latch on the 3rd digit press? Does the write-in arm start to rotate etc etc. I have restored an electr...

Re: Help with a RockOla 445 not playing records.

If the motor runs using the service switch, the motor is not the problem. If it won't return to home, if started via the service switch, it almost has to be the contact(s) on the read-out arm, or wobble plate switch, or service switch. Trace the circuit -- Ron Rich Totally agree Ron. There may be a...

Re: Help with a RockOla 445 not playing records.

Hi. My first suggestion is one of the two main mech motors. You mentioned this a few post back Now when I select a record the write-in selects it and thats it. All fuses are fine and when I push the select switch from operate to scan it rolls through. I have been looking throught the service manual ...

Re: Rock-ola 448

Hi This is all getting a little confusing, maybe I can help clarify a few things. As Ron said earlier the purpose of the wobble plate solenoid is only to help the first pin be selected. Once any pin is selected the wobble plate switch will close, and stay closed until the very last record has been p...
