Re: rockola

Hi Since the WI selection is always correct, it confirms that the brake on the AC WI motor I mentioned earlier appears to be ok. If your magazine is not stopping consistently on the correctly selected pin, then as Ron has said there could be a problem with the braking circuit for this motor. Looking...

Re: rockola

Did you find the problem ? Some extra info for you Agreeing with Ron, it sounds very much like dynamic braking. I assume you are referring to the search (or write-in) motor stopping at A1 C1 or somewhere in between. If so there will be a braking circuit. I have not looked at a 437 but certainly on t...

Re: Rock-Ola 490-1...Please help!

Hi I have recently restored a Rockola machine myself, and re-iterate what Rob has said. First things first. You are correct, the machine is in the play position, but strangely as Rob said there looks to be something odd about the scan switch, it does look as though it's stuck in the scan position, I...

Re: How do I get my Rockola 445 to play small hole 45s?

I will try to get some close up pictures of how the parts connect together for you.

As you say its a little difficult to see under there, but will see what I can do.

Re: How do I get my Rockola 445 to play small hole 45s?

Hi I will try to take a picture of my turntable this evening. And attach it to this post. ISTR that I removed everything to do with the speed change system Part 18, 19 and 20 it looks like in the diagram, and replaced a collar Part 25 on the idler swinging arm 24 (this rides along part 18, I think) ...

Re: How do I get my Rockola 445 to play small hole 45s?

Hi I think you will probably find that congealed grease is your first enemy here. I have modified my machine to do exactly that, and is able now to play both large and small holed 45's The first thing you need to do is remove the turntable from the machine (just lift it off). And check the operation...

Re: Rockola 440 Update

Hey Robert Well done finding the mechanical fault with the microswitch alignment. From what you say now however, it sounds as if there are more alignment issues. As Ron says there should be adjustment screws on the carriages either side of the pin bank. The one to the outside of the pin bank is for ...

Re: Rockola 440 Update

Hi all. Yes I agree with Ron on that point. There is just one thing that concerns me, and that was that Robert says the 15Ohm resistor is burning up. I think that 15R resistor is in series with the gripper motor at that point, I therefore suspect that the motor has stalled. Therefore it would very d...

Re: Rockola 440 Update

Hi Since you have checked the circuit and latch coil by shorting the tabs on the microswitch. Then you either do have a bad microswitch as Ron has said, or the alignment of the microswitches to the cam is incorrect. Maybe the cam is not fully reaching the end position (a jam maybe). You must check t...

Re: Rockola 440 Update

Hello Robert Do you have the manual ? I have just had a quick look at the schematics I have for my 474 machine. Which is very very similar electrically. What I think is happening is this. The 15 ohm resistor is actually used to slow down the gripper motor towards the end of its transfer cycle, thus ...

Re: Rock-Ola 449 playing issue

Hi From your last post then, it sounds like the third button is not latching in (and holding) like it should. When you selece the second button the latch solenoid on the selection bank should pull in. This causes the third button to latch until the write-in carriage has made its selection, by holdin...

Re: Rock-ola 468 Selection issue

If you press an Invalid second digit button.
Does the Red "Press Reset and Reselect" light come on ?

I think there is a fuse in this part of the circuit around the 2nd digit selections. Check fuses within the selection unit.

Re: Rock-Ola 447

Hi If you are seeing 33V DC on both sides of the play relay coil, then that not only indicates that the coil is good, but also that the coil is not being activated. For the relay to be activated you should see 33V on one side and next to nothing on the other, assuming of course that the coil is ok. ...
