Re: AMI Model C Convert back to 78

I found the procedure doc for the 78 to 45 conversion of the AMI Model C unit. It describes in detail what needs to change to the unit to play 45's and would need to backtrack to restore it back to playing 78's.

Re: AMI Model C Convert back to 78

Well what I have found out is that the kits to convert the AMI C from 78 to 45's was an AMI produced kit for the operators to be able to quickly upgrade the unit instead of replacing it with a machine that could play 45's natively. As for parts, the biggest part change was the Cam. Apparently from w...

AMI Model C Convert back to 78

Well it has been a while since I have been on the forum, took a break from juke projects and have been doing a ton of video game restores until I picked up my latest project, the AMI Model C. Currently it is configured with a 45 cam but still has the original 78 tonearm. Here is my question, when th...

Re: Rock-Ola 448 Slow Turntable

So I got my new grommets yesterday and installed them, 2 of the 3 original ones were rock hard. I took the entire turntable assembly apart and cleaned everything when I restored this unit months ago and guess I never noticed the grommets were bad. So new grommets are in and turntable speed is back t...

Re: Rock-Ola 448 Slow Turntable

I have cleaned and oiled all appropriate aspects of the motor and armatures but did not even think about the 3 grommets which are all bad. I just ordered a set of replacement grommets and will take care of that next week.

Thank you all for the idea and suggestions as always.

Rock-Ola 448 Slow Turntable

So I restored a Rock-ola 448 and was working very well, now all of a sudden when you first turn it on, it takes about 2 records before it sounds correct, the first 2 sound slow. After a few turns the sound seems to get better. I have cleaned out the turn table mech fairly, is this more of a motor is...

Re: Yellowing Plastics

I have done that process for pinball parts and other small plastics as well and typically works well. That becomes a challenge with something the size of a title board for a jukebox and the fact the numbers are screened on the front would be destroyed by the Peroxide . So this is not an option for t...

Yellowing Plastics

Anyone have the elixir to clean the internal plastics that have yellowed over time (smoke and fluorescents), like a the back of a title board in a Rock-ola 448?
I have tried just about everything I can think of with no real change.

Re: Rock-ola 448 Adjustment Question

Thank you for posting this.... this helps a great deal.
I have a copy of the Service Manual and Parts manual for the Rock-ola 448 & 449 and that is not in the manual I have.

Re: Wurlitzer P-12 Serial Number

I had a feeling that was going to be the answer :D The older units do have a great deal of mystery and inconsistencies around them. Trying to find out what is original or not is also a problem as many of the P-12's have been restored, and finding out what is was supposed to be original, including in...

Rock-ola 448 Adjustment Question

I have searched the manual but not able to find anything about this.... The metal strapping band that holds the 45's in the basket has about 1/4" adjustment in the front of the frame. I am looking for suggestions and opinions as to how you have the band set, all the way open (loose), all the wa...

Wurlitzer P-12 Serial Number

So here is my situation, I picked up a P-12 a few weeks ago that I am in the process of restoring but am not sure of its serial number as they is no plate. Now on the frame of the cabinet in 2 places there is a number "167" stamped, once on the inner frame by the front door hinges and the ...

Re: Rock-ola 448 Sluggish

Well I know the first motor, the gears are spent. When you make a selection and it would hesitate, if you pressed up on the bottom of the motor shaft it would work. This is explained easily, as when I picked this up at the auction, the gripper motor was jumping off the gear because someone put the g...

Re: Rock-ola 448 Sluggish

Well problem solved...
Both motors I had were bad, go figure. Replaced it with another motor and everything works perfectly now.

Thanks for all the advice.

Re: Rock-ola 448 Sluggish

The 3 red micro switches on the end of the gripper shaft cam? I have made sure they are aligned properly but will take a look at them again.
Thank you very much for the suggestion...
