Re: Seeburg 222 now with a Whoop Whoop sound

So what was the solution after 1 year ? It took me this long to get back to the amp ! First I isolated the AVC circuit from the amp by removing the connections at C147 for Channel 2 and C108 for Channel 1. This got rid of the hum that had developed from the earlier whoop whoop sound. The amp now sou...

Re: Seeburg 222 now with a Whoop Whoop sound

Rob & Ron, After looking for the obvious and not finding any issues with guide pins and lock area, it took me about half a day to figure out how to take the amp out and be able to get to the component side without breaking anything while using the cables in the cabinet. So, next I took out the 6...

Re: Seeburg 222 now with a Whoop Whoop sound

Following Rob's hum files storage method, here is a "beat" file or I called it whoop.
Windows sound recorder just does not do it justice.

Re: Seeburg 222 now with a Whoop Whoop sound

Not being able to hear it, I'm wondering--is this a mechanically induced sound ? Thought so To determine if it is, try the following: Place one hand on the motor, and listen to the sound to see if it corresponds to the "feel" of the motor ? Can't really feel the sound If so, check that al...

Matt, I'll try moving cables around to see if it'll make a difference, but not a whole lot of options here.

Re: Seeburg 222 now with a Whoop Whoop sound

Has the amp been rebuilt? If not, --do not try to use it until it is--. If the amp has been rebuilt with all coupling capacitors replaced and voltages checked there are tests we can go over to narrow the problem. Rob-NYC Rob, yes amp has all new caps, and the main voltages were checked when on the ...

Seeburg 222 now with a Whoop Whoop sound

So my Seeburg 222 has been on the bench for quite sometime and working really well out of the cabinet. Sounds decent with no unusual noises other then a click or two now and then. I had some time this weekend and got the cabinet cleaned up pretty well so I decided to move the amp, keys, and mechanis...

Re: mismatched 222 speakers

Jim, Seeburg spent time and money "matching speakers" to both the cabinet and audio system. For an original sound, the original model speaker is best. Did you contact any of the "jukebox junkyards" listed above for one ?? Ron Rich Ron, I've scoured the internet looking for one i...

Re: mismatched 222 speakers

Jim, LPC woofers are metallic blue. The speakers used in the 2201-222 are voiced differently than others that Seeburg used because they didn't use a tweeter of any sort. Nothing other than what was used there will match. I used LPC speakers and added two horn tweeters w/crossover in a 222 that I bu...

mismatched 222 speakers

My 222 has one original 222 speaker and a replacement from an lpc I think. You can definitely hear the difference, as the lpc sounds less efficient / bright. Would a q100 speaker be a good substitute ? if not, which models would match the closest to the 222 16 ohm speaker ? Thanks.

Re: Seeburg 222 issues, where to focus first ?

Jim, Two, or three, "things" can cause that problem, on that model machine.-- 1. Miss-alignment of the TMU, is the most likely, if you have removed it, or the record rack--see the Service Manual. 2. Reversing switch is being "flipped" while the detent switch is closed, and the c...

Re: Seeburg 222 issues, where to focus first ?

Found a new selection issue, the current status it that the juke will select 159 out of 160 selections. When I select A1 it moves just in front of the first slot and proceeds to play an air record. Upon selecting B1, all works well and all others at the other end of the rack work. So not sure why th...

Re: Seeburg 222 issues, where to focus first ?

Rob, I thought the same thing (somewhat), how, after working for 15 selections, could the coil all of a sudden short out ? Each time it worked I did get a bright flash on the 2050 tube, but not the long glow prior to the fuse dropping out. Now with the new coil, I don't even see a hint of the bright...
