Re: Seeburg 222 restoration

Ron I did remove the selector and washed it in sudsy early in the restoration I was more looking at which spray switch cleaner is recommended to clean the switch contacts. It seems to be working ok at the moment and being used more might take care of the problem. The squeal is definitely coming from...

Re: Seeburg 222 restoration

Ok starting to get there with this machine, Ron I had setup the TMU as per the manual and it is working ok. I found that the number 1 button was not making when button was pressed so A1 to U1 would not write in. Managed to get it working but would like recommendations on the best way to clean the sw...

Re: Seeburg 222 restoration

Ron Adjusting the clutch was spot on advice the record is now centered to the rack on A and B side when playing. It is also tripping at the correct selection. As to be expected more issues are arising, I have found that the selections A1to U1 when selected do not trip and play, yet when the battery ...

Re: Seeburg 222 restoration

Ron,

Excuse my ignorance but are you talking about item 12 in the attached drawing?
I haven't made any adjustments to the clutch yet, as it seemed to be working I left it alone.
Are you suggesting I perform the clutch adjustments 1 to 4?

Re: Seeburg 222 restoration

Ron This was doing my head in as everything in the clutch moved so freely, as a last resort I removed the clutch again and found that I had missed where the connecting link connects to the clutch. Although it only moves slightly it was enough, pulled the connection apart and oiled and mech is now pl...

Re: Seeburg 222 restoration

Slowly working my way through this machine finally got the credit unit working ok. Had the mech cycling left and right on the bench and it intermittently transferred a record to the turntable and returned it to the rack without playing it, it's not the clutch binding as I've had this apart oiled it ...

Re: Seeburg 222 restoration

Hi Ron
Thx for the reply, reading your book is what led me to believe that the clutch was binding and needed removal for cleaning and lubricating, I just wanted confirmation.
Can you suggest a diode replacement for the smoothing rectifier (selenium) in the mech trip cct.
Cheers
John

Re: Seeburg 222 restoration

Ron the manual says that in the test position the speakers are connected to one side of the 6 volt tube heater cct for a hum test at approx 3 volts. The amp works and sounds ok just can't get the hum test to work all I can think of is the transformer . I already have your manual looks like I may nee...

Re: Seeburg 222 restoration

Cabinet is nearing completion TSU and AMP are completed and working and I am now turning my attentions to the mechanism. In previous posts I wrote that the speaker hum test does not work even though I have one leg of the heater 6 volt ac supply at the speaker terminal. I would have thought I would g...

Re: Seeburg 222 channel plastics

Ron, yeah I have emailed most of the suppliers, Patrick informed me the factory he had making them closed down.
Hoping that someone stashed a few away just in case they needed them in the future and no longer need them.
If not I will stick with what I have.
Cheers

Seeburg 222 channel plastics

The channel 1 and 2 plastics on my Seeburg 222 have fine cracks on the corners of a lot of the engraved letters. Patrick from Jukebox USA made unpainted reproductions in the past but hasn't any left and no plans to make more. If anyone knows if there is a set out there for sale please let me know. C...

Re: SHFA1 recap tips

Rob I am getting 5.8Vac at both red and blue wires but not across the speaker terminals. The common wire of both speakers is connected to chassis ground. At the speaker test switch I have 5.8Vac leaving on both channels. I have no reading when I connect across the active to chassis. All connections ...

Re: SHFA1 recap tips

Rob Thanks for the reply I am using the existing 16ohm speakers but also trying tweeters to improve sound as per previous conversations with you. Source is a Teac record player. I have tried the machine without the AGC tubes with no noticeable difference. Ron, As the speakers are working I discounte...
