Re: NEWBIE!!!!

WELCOME ABOARD :)
Hope you enjoy your visits to the site.
I am fairly new myself to Phonoland. I really enjoy checking out all of the intersting posts, esp Victor Victrola items and acoustic recordings.

Re: How Victor Made Tungs-Tone Needles --

Joe, THANK YOU for sharing this article with us! :) I really LOVE this needle. I try to buy as many as I can afford! As you know the auction prices vary so much. Sometimes I get lucky and can obtain a full tin at a reasonable price. I recently got a lot of 38 tungs-Tone needles in varying tones for ...

Re: Oil type

Joe, Thank you for the information. It is very helpful to me in deciding where to send the motor for cleaning. Have you had any dealings with APSCO for repairs? I understand this Company has a good reputation. The machine I believe may need overhauling is my VV-XVI circa 1913. When I wind it I hear ...

Re: Oil type

What is the secret to regreasing the main spring in a Victrola? I have been using gear oil and a vaseline type product purchased from the Antique Phonograph Supply Co. out of New York. I am a newbie at this, so forgive my ignorance on this subject. My attempts to oil the motor seem to make it play/s...

Re: 12" turntable for VV-XVI with gold rim

Hi Vic160,
Thank you for the info on the bullet brake vs the On/off type brake. I have the On/Off type, so I do need the gold rim turntable.
I appreciate the feedback!

12" turntable for VV-XVI with gold rim

Hi members, I am seeking a replacement turntable for my VV-XVI that has the gold rim. For some reason the one I have is nickel plated instead of gold plated. The tone arm, reproducer are already gold plated. Sometime in its life the machine platter was replaced. The machine is from March 1913 in mah...

Re: Rudolph Valentino 1923 recording

Joe, Thank you very much for the scoop on the Valentino record. It was very interesting indeed. I have a DVD of 2 Valentino silent films. It has a biography of the film star and it has a feature of a victrola playing the song by Valentino. It doesn't sound too bad. I'll keep checking back to see if ...

Re: Rudolph Valentino 1923 recording

Joe,
Appreciate the info you have provided. I knew it was a long shot. I thought I would try anyway.
Somewhere out there is a disc in someone's attic waiting to be discovered!
Many thanks!
