Re: Scematic needed for Ambassador 647 record player

Hello! Thanks for the reply. I am looking for the 551-13 Sam's schematic for the audio portion. Yes, the speedminder arm post is missing. I don't think this changer came with one from what I could tell. If you can scan the schematic for me and email it to me, that would be much appreciation. Thanks!

Ambassador model 647 that uses a Glaser Steers record change

Hello readers here! I have a glaser steers record changer from 1960 that is found with this Ambassador 647 record player with decent amp. The glaser steers record changer GS-77 or GE, or GED has a "Speed minder" which is suppose to identify the different size records. Only problem is the t...

Re: Need Advice on a Vintage Magnavox Micromatic S600

If the needle looks worned and dirty on the LP side, just replace it with a new one. You really dont have any idea how old it is. The needles are cheap enough to buy on ebay. See the Needledoctor on his ebay site. He has plenty of 'em

Re: Need Advice on a Vintage Magnavox Micromatic S600

Ok..First of all, you can't have a washer or bearing missing under the platter around the spindle shaft. The tone arm is factory set according to this. If it is missing, then I suggest finding another Micomatic changer similar to the one you have. These changers you get from time to time on ebay. Th...

Philco 53-1350 Antenna issues..

Hello everyone. I am working on on 1953 Philco unit that has some antenna issues. There's no break in the loop antenna front or back. The copper wiring came apart from the loop antenna while I kept jockeying the chassis for other problems. They sure made these so difficult and crowded to work on. Ye...

Re: HELP PLEASE!!SILVERTONE PHONOGRAPH/RADIO

First and foremost, replace the needle. If the tonearm wont even lower all the way to the record, see what's binding up the tonearm. There is a adjustment on the tonearm for heights, but this should be your last resort. Sounds more like you have a bad needle. Pictures posted here would help pin poin...

Removing old needle from Astatic QT type cartridge..

Hello phonoland readers! I am currently working on a rare 78RPM Seeburg"M" 3 - scissors type record changer from 1946-7 era from a Stromberg-Carlson fancey radio phono combo. The Astatic QT type cartridge is still alive with decent volume. While I was redoing the record changer for lubrica...

MAGNAVOX UPRIGHT PORTABLE RECORD PLAYER...

Hello Phonoland readers! I have a early 1960's Solid State Magnavox upright full dimension stereophonic record player that works well. The issue I have is: How do I get rid of the mussy mildew odor smell? It looks like this unit was stored in a basement for many years. I have cleaned the unit out wi...

Re: Voice of Music 357 record player with amp

Problem found......The VM 357 amp is already grounded in the chassis amp. The almost correct record changer was grounded from motor to metal base of changer. All was needed was to disconnect that wire. Variable humming stopped.

Re: Voice of Music 357 record player with amp

Matt, I appreciate the replies. I am capable of some restoration on tube electonics. However, this 357 amp has a bad ground somewhere. When A/C line plug is reversed, the humming is worse. The filters all checked ok as far as B+ is concerned. The volume control is the one that is picking up the hum w...

Voice of Music 357 record player with amp

Hello Phonoland group! I have a 1962 Voice of Music model 357 record player with amp. I am getting a little bit of humming coming from the volume control when you turn up the volume. The louder you turn up the volume, the more notice of humming. The filters in the amp seems to be good, but just the ...
