Re: 1959 Voice of Music model 582 modular stereo

This amp has mostly ceramic capacitors, so it may not need a complete re-cap, once the electrolytics are addressed. its an incredible sounding amplifier! I have a model 581 which is the same thing with different cabinet styling. Changing the cartridge could change the frequency response. Ceramic car...

Re: Where to buy plastic drive gear?

Non-working changers pulled from consoles can be obtained cheaply, look on ebay. Nice to have a parts unit, or a guinea pig to learn on before you tackle a family heirloom. Its also nice to have one thats fully assembled to look at wwhen your putting a dissassembled one back together.

Re: Where to buy plastic drive gear?

I used to work on carburetors for a living, we never used carb cleaner unless milder solvents failed to do the job, and then we carefully took all rubber and plastic parts off first, its nasty stuff!! Especially if you have an older can, the newer stuff has been reformulated to meet california emiss...

Re: Ambassador model 647 that uses a Glaser Steers record ch

I recently picked up a Glaser-steers GS-77T, it doesnt have the speedminder at all, or the rest post feeler that activates 78rpm. It does have the turntable pause feature though, I think its a later model from 1962 or so, at least thats the date on the Sams folder that matches it. Does yours have a ...

Re: Astro-sonic playing same line of music repeatedly

If you're lucky just the needle assembly got dammaged , and a new needle will get it going properly. But its possible that something with the tonearm got messed up, but most units from the 60s are way overdue for servicing anyway, to clean out old hardened grease and relubricate the motor bearings. ...

Re: Motorola sk22m Golden Voice record changer

Its a nice unit, Walnut cabinet by Drexel, 3 channels of push pull 6v6 amplification. The center channel is for bass and feeds a 15" woofer. The unit had been re-capped when i got it, but the changer needed lubing to get it to run at the right speed and play the last record without shutting off...

Re: Motorola sk22m Golden Voice record changer

Most motorola units from that time period I have seen are VM changers, not BSR. i see changers from motorola consoles on ebay all the time. If it is a VM, Gary Stork from the VM website might be able to supply a part, otherwise a parts unit off ebay is your best bet. Motorola made some nice consoles...
