Re: Rock-ola 429 cycle of operation

Thanks guys, The motor will turn freely and it didn't feel like it was trying to catch, or power was even applied. I'm going to attempt a thorough cleaning of the play control box later. Also, pretty sure the gripper gears and such are not gummed. I'm able to manually rotate it all the way through a...

Re: Rock-ola 429 cycle of operation

Clones, That worked! I replaced the damaged wire in the receiver plug and the cycle now goes on......to a point. Now the cycle stops after the read out is complete. I can make a selection using the buttons, write in motor moves the pin, and the read out carriage (which is constantly rotating per no ...

Re: Rock-ola 429 cycle of operation

There is one labeled "Receiver" that fits your description. It's located on the same unit as the accumulator. here is what it looks like. It appears to have one of the wires cut. A yellow one to be exact.

Re: Rock-ola 429 cycle of operation

Clones, I think midst of the connections are tight, and I have cleaned most of the other things you have mentioned. I'm not sure what the stepper plug is. Could you point me in that direction? Eddie, yes the outer carriage and magazine will stop if I manually move a pin on the selector. However, the...

Re: Rockola 429 Home Switch?

Thanks for the help guys. The magazine just spins constantly. I am in the hunt for a home switch now. I am assuming this won't affect operation other than wearing out the motor if left on?

Rock-ola 429 cycle of operation

hello all, First, thanks to all who have replied and helped me out on this project so far. You have been a great help. Currently, I have most of the machine cleaned, put back together (minus the amp and speakers) and power applied. I am now ready to begin working through the cycle of operation. Ther...

Re: Rockola 429 Home Switch?

Hey Ron,
I think you are right, those color wires appear to be going to the A-B switch. maybe this picture will tell you what I'm talking about. Notice the three tied together connections.

Re: Rockola 429 Home Switch?

If I recall correctly, the wires appear to have been cut. Or something that was between them was removed. They are blue, green and orange. Right now, each color is tied together. Blue to blue, etc. Those three wires trace back to a plug going into the control box, the other end is going into the sel...

Re: Rockola 429 Home Switch?

Yep, that is what is happening! I applied some power, no selections are made (that I'm aware of) and the magazine and read out carriage along with the turn table are just spinning. They never stop! Since I'm not sure that my accumulator or buttons are working, i can manually trip a selector lever an...

Re: Rockola 429 Home Switch?

Thanks for the info! I just emailed a guy to see if he has one available. Hopefully it will work out. Those three wires I mentioned were tied together when I removed it. So I assumed they were just cut for some reason and patched back. I suppose the switch is what they were for!. By the way, can, or...

Re: Rockola 429 Home Switch?

Ron, yes the book shows one. At least it speaks about it and shows it in some drawings. I cant figure out why it would be removed. Nothing else appears to be missing. And yes, I've noticed Google does little good in finding one. I guess I could buy a selector and hope it has one on it! Is there any ...

Rockola 429 Home Switch?

Hello all, I am trying go through each part of my R/O 429 both to learn about the operation and make sure everything is there before i put everything back in the cabinet. I believe the gripper motor and all gears, cams, and micro switches are lined up correctly according to the manual. I turned my a...

Re: Rock-ola 429 Starlet Gripper mech. gears/ Cam

I would agree. However, I have to rotate the motor counter clockwise to get to that point. No1 switch is in the groove. If I rotate clockwise, as the manual states, the gripper arm raises as if picking up a record before what I presume to be a jam occurs.

Re: Rock-ola 429 Starlet Gripper mech. gears/ Cam

Hi, I finally got home and I believe that all of your pictures match the way mine is currently set up. Moving on to the rear cam, the one that operates the three micro switches at the rear of the machine, I do think I was reading the manual correctly. It says (pg 11, CAM ADJUSTMENT) to "rotate...
