Berliner sleeves

by shane » Tue Sep 11, 2007 7:07 am

The V disc sleeve post has prompted me to ask- does anyone know what the sleeve of Berliner disc's were like? Were they also plain paper, or did they have printed sleeves. I've got a few early 10" G&T covers, but they are extremely fragile, so I'd imagine berliner sleeves would be even worse, and probably haven't survived in any great number.

To my knowledge, the only Berliners that came with sleeves were the very first issues, from the United States Gramophone Co. in the Fall of 1894. I know of two of them; My Old Kentucky Home (#175) and Blind Tom (#851).
