Wurlitzer 2104: Too Much Voltage?

Interesting question here. I have a Wurlitzer 2104 that I'm guessing over 35 years ago (it's been in our family for at least 35) someone decided to put in a 546 stereo amp from either a 2900 or 3000. Everything works okay (some other small issues but that's a different thread a different day) except when I test the standby DC (-) voltage in the playrak I am receiving 47 volts and when it is in "Select" mode it drops to 33 volts. I am under the impression that 28 volts is the norm. Could this be a sign of a failing transformer? Everything seems okay with this kind of voltage running through it but I'm pretty sure if it's supposed to be 28 volts then all that excess couldn't be good for it.

Chris, Just guessing here--What is the "line voltage" ? What is a 29/3000 rated at ? What is the AC voltage on the other side of the DC circuit? --See where I'm going? If the line AC is now higher, the AC for the rectifier is hgher, thus the DC out is going to be hgher. 33 Volts on a 28 VDC (unregulated) circut is within "safe" range, however, IMHO, 47 vdc, might just be high. I would not, however, think that the transformer would be failing. Also this is subject to the quality/type meter you are using. I don't think I'd wory about it, other then to be 100% SURE that ALL fuses were of the correct size and type. Ron Rich
