A bit of help with a Zenith K666R

by RocketJockey » Sat Dec 08, 2012 12:51 am

Hello All,

I just got a Zenith K666 that seems to work well except for one thing. The tone arm lifts off of the record prematurely. I cannot determine how to adjust this. Does anyone have any ideas> Also, if anyone has a PDF of the manual I'd be eternally grateful as I'd like to get this thing tuned up as a Christmas present for my mother.
Thanks!
Jonathan

Being a 1953 model, it'll require substantailly more than a simple adjustment, sorry.
The whole unit will need to be overhauled in order to perform reliably and safely.
"Seems to work well" isn't a safe assumption for something 59 years old.
As a tech, I assure you that deterioration has taken place silently, and is now badly in need.

I wouldn't give a gift in that condition, have the proper service done.
This way, it'll last for decades to come, with peace of mind.
The Internet is a marvelous thing, however it's not a good substitute for actually being there.

Thanks, I understand. I've overhauled many jukeboxes and phonographs. I just didn't know if there was a screw adjustment to take care of this or not. A complete tear-down is in a couple of weeks. Just looking for guidance, manuals, advice. I've only had it a few hours now, I'm not familiar with the unit and hoping that someone knows its basic adjustments.
