Seeburg LPC1 Wont Select

Hello everyone!
I recently received a LPC1, all the tubes warm up and I'm able to move the 3 way toggle switch to the left and have it scan. I put money into the coinslot but no lights activate and none of the buttons remain selected.

Any advice is appreciated. Could it be in the coin area or tormat selection? Also there is a key under the money total box and my label on the blue 3way toggle switch is half there so I am not sure which position is "play" or service.

Hi Nicholas,
First of all--that jukebox and all jukeboxes were made to MAKE money--therefore, in order to be able to select, coins have to pass thru a "coin switch"--in the case of this model, the coin coils are fused. Do you have the Service Manual package ?
The "box with the key" in it can be eliminated without any problems. The service switch is in "operate position", when all the way to the right--slide switch should be spring loaded to the left-( springs break on these, which will prevent credits from displaying--) Ron Rich

I connected pin 11 in test socket 3 to pin 1 of test socket to trigger the latch with ground. This made it intermittently fixed the non depression of letter/number keys and display credits when coins inserted when then it randomly selected and successfully played a random record. Im happy this shows sign of life but now it seems to play all the records very very slow!

Nicolas, this sort of tinkering will waste a lot of time and may cause damage.

The LPC is one* of the most complicated machines Seeburg made. I've used them commercially and they are quite reliable but, you are starting from scratch here with a long-neglected machine. This is not going to be a 'Windex overhaul".

Yes, Nicolas, a complete cap replacement in amp, control center and speed unit along with several resistors is necessary. You can buy capacitor "kits" here: http://www.verntisdale.com/Seeburgpage.htm Or assemble what is needed yourself from online suppliers.

Manuals are important and schematics (included in manuals) are essential.

At this point you need to asses your abilities in dealing with this work. There are online instructions and videos to demonstrate proper circuit rework and component replacement techniques. And, of course, forums like this one, but the decision whether to proceed and DIY or send the components out has to come from you.

I suggest you get the manual first. then slide the individual units out and get an idea of what is involved. It is not that difficult, but mistakes can be costly and frustrating.

Yes , some of these LPC's will work ok with little effort . Some need tons of work . Along with what was already said there are several sets of contact points in these machines and pretty much every one of them needs to be cleaned and some of them adjusted .
If the last person bent just one out of whack possibly by mistake it could stop things from working . Dont overlook the keyboard . In recent restorations of these later machines i have been having to totaly redo & clean the keyboards .
