2800 Woes continue....

The Wurlitzer 2800 I have had for the past few years worked like a champ up until recently. Now it is giving me fits! There is something going on with in the selector and I am not sure what it is. I can select songs but sometimes when I hit the buttons in latches in the selection and makes the noise but does not release. It will eventually burn out a fuse. Any one have any ideas what could be causing this? It happens randomly so I dont think it is a specific selector coil. Thanks!!!

That's usually the sign of a "bad" relay---"--burn out a fuse" ?? which fuse, and what's the correct value ? Ron Rich

The fuse that blows is the 8/10 amp slow blow that is in the junction box. I am using the correct fuse.

Blowing that fuse would indicate that the letter coil is indeed being energized ( for too long). I would change that from an 8/10 to a 6/10 value, at least till you have located, and repaired the problem. The fact that the coil energized would indicate either the Electrical Selector "ring" is not turning, or that if it is, the "select" switch is not making. If the AC motor powering the "ring" is frozen, it usually can be carefully opened and re-lubed. If the start switch has "gone out of adjustment--all by itself", it's time to replace, rather than re-adjust it-- HTH Ron Rich
