Seeburg LPC-1: picks up record with reversing switch?

by dmklunk » Thu Jul 31, 2014 9:44 pm

Hi all,
I am working on a Seeburg LPC-1 that I have been trying to bring back. It's been doing funky things and Murphy's Law seems to have come into effect with this one.
I am to the point where it will scan and pick up a record. However when the record is finished it won't put it back. It tries to put it back but picks it up again. If I turn it off I can manually force it to reject and it falls back into the scan position. Then if I turn it back on it will scan. When it hits the end it reverses back. On its way back, I can hear something in the TCC chatter (which doesn't seem right). It heads toward A1 and the second it goes to reverse it tries to pick up a record. It seems that the reversing switch causes it to pick up a record. If I flip the reversing switch toward the middle of the magazine it will pick up a record right there and then continues to play it. So there's the chatter, the reversing switch, and the way it keeps playing records over and over. I can't tell if those three issues are related or not. This all happens whether I have the Tormat connected or disconnected so I can't see it being a Tormat issue.

I appreciate any insight.

Thanks!

Derek

Hi Derick,
Got the Service Manual ? Look at the schematic--down on the reversing SWITCH, there is a resistor soldered onto the switch or near by (depending on production run) --change it ! Clean / adjust the LSR, RSR, and RR contacts per manual, or my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide". This should repair both problems. Ron Rich
