Rich, in the interest of preserving records, it's always a good idea to "upgrade" an older mono player with a stereo cartridge wired for mono operation. (L+R)
Taking into consideration input level voltage, in most cases it's not hard to do.

Stereo cartridges - the ceramic ones mostly, are much more able to track all records better due to their higher (vertical) compliance.
Plus, tracking forces can be lowered (in some cases) to also reduce record wear.
Additionally, using a newer, current cartridge makes obtaining replacement needles in the future a lot easier.

The benefits outweigh the effort IMO.

Matt,
When it comes to Seeburg Jukeboxes, that problem has been rectified for years with special, in most cases, plug in, "stereo compliant" cartridges. The best one being the Pickering 345-03D, which uses the same stereo needles as were used in later stereo cartridges. There also were "stereo compliant" needles made for the original mono cartridge used in that model.
I assumed that the writer knew that, and wished to make the "whole system" stereo---

It just the stero pickering cartridge and needles are so much cheaper the ones made for mono r.
I have the red head in now but would like it a little better. really Dont understand why someone has reproduced the adapter that seaburg made.

Matt,
Correct, for all original, and those produced by the OEM (Pickering), as replacement, for Seeburg---SOME of the "aftermarket" units are "whoknowswhatz" ?
