AMI Model K will not play some selections

Hi,

I have an AMI model k 200 select jukebox. The selector buttons A to K and 11 to 20 work fine. The selectors 1 to 10 ( the midle section) don't work properly.

When I select the numbers 1 to 10, the search motor just keeps running and does not select a record. I have to cancel the select mechanism to stop it scanning.

Can anyone offer any advice where to strat to check what is wrong (it was working fine)?

Greatly appreciated.

Someone might just want to look at the service manual schematic--but my WAG is that you have an "open (Gnd?)" between the two number banks--- Ron Rich

Thanks Ron,

What should I be looking for? Is it a wrongly connected wire or a resistor burnt out or a wiper blade out of alignment? I have tried all I know without success.

I have been having problems with power, however, I finally fixed that problem and I fear I may have adjusted something else in my search.

I am not a technician (as you can probably tell).

Gordo,
In no way do I want to insult you (or anyone else !), but at this point I suggest that you should look for a "pro". I know that when someone brings me something that's been "messed with", it almost always takes me longer to figure out what "people" have done to the unit, then to fix the original problem---Ron Rich

Thanks again Ron,

I totally agree and would follow your advice if possible.

My problem is that I live in Australia and the closest jukebox repairman is about 1500 miles away. I can find a couple of pinball repairmen but they acknowledge they don't understand jukeboxes. This is becoming a very rare hobby in Australia.

Thanks again for your time, help and interest.

Gordo,
Did you ever contact Erwin ? I can't find his address now, but he also sells 45rpm records, as well as running a jukebox repair co--- Ron Rich
