Seeburg USC1 Jukebox Problems

Hello, I have a Seeburg USC1 jukebox that just started acting up today, turned it on and the mech started scanning from end to end and would not stop, could not make a selection at all and only way to stop it was to turn off the machine. I did trip it manually from the trip switch on the mech and it picked a record and played the record but no sound, can anyone help me on this machine.

Would it just keep scanning forever or did it scan twice, then stop at the normal rest position (the position it would normally stop at if there were no credits to play)? If it scans twice and stops, it is usually time to lubricate the mechanism. Ron Rich has a great book on the Seeburg mechanism. If it just keeps scanning forever, you might need to check out the "computers". I believe this one has two, commonly called the black and grey box. There are books available to check and fix these also. The black and grey boxes was used in the early and mid seventies. There could be other issues causing it also but the no sound part has me thinking you may have computer issues. One easy thing to check is if the tormat is plugged in. It is a small cable from the bottom of the mechanism to the control center. It is usually the only thing on the control center that uses an RCA (regular phono) jack. You might try unplugging the tormat and plugging it back in. Was the box moved or bumped hard before this occured? See if the phono cartridge cables and muting cable are plugged in also. Also check to make sure that the needle is actually making contact with the record, not just going into the play mode. Keep in mind I've never had or worked on a UCC1, I'm only guessing that it's similar to some slightly older ones I have. It may be quite different.

Are the scan control contacts being held closed by an energized add coil ? Ron Rich

Hello, I have recently ran into troubles with my usc1 jukebox, the motor for the record pick up won't go anywhere, and pick anything up, or when I punch in the numbers, then don't work, I'm not which one it is, but if anyone could tell me where to start trouble shooting that would be helpful, thanks.

If you have electro/mechanical skills, I suggest that the first thing you need to do is un-plug the phono, and read the Seeburg Service Manual. I further suggest that my "Seeburg Microlog Trouble Shooting Guide", and my "Seeburg Mechanism Guide", would be of some assistance. If you don't have these skills, or the time required, I suggest that you call a pro to repair it, as you can cause many problems, as well as injure yourself, by "fooling around"--

Well, I'm no technical genuis, but how much do you think it would cost to repair it? And I also have another problem, I want to be able to put money into it... But when I do it comes right out the coin reject slot, how do I change it to make it go all the way down? And if it has to do with "coin switch" (j3106) left side top cabinet) mine has no wires coming out of it. It just has the little thing stuck in there with 3 holes where wires would come out of

Itake that back.. The dbv has no wires.. The coin switch is fine.

When you can tell someone what's wrong with it, and what has been done to it over the past thirty plus years, someone may be able to give you an idea of what it would cost to repair it. Ron Rich
