hf100g selection receiver (et al) issues for newbie

I have also posted this on another forum, but I am not sure where I can locate the legendary folks with the answers so.....

Thanks for allowing me to use the forum. I accidentally acquired a very dirty
hf100g last year. It has been sitting for a long time and was filthy. I
decided to completely diassemble clean and reassemble the entire box. I have it
back together and now working on getting it operational. I have the mechanism
spotless clean and lubricated. I am sure that the amp and the selection
receiver will need to be re-capped.

Now the issue that I am dealing with-- the WSR powers up fine, the selection
mechanism properly sends the selection to the clean and rebuild pin bank and the
coil properly kicks out the appropriate lever. The problem is that mechanism
does not come on and go into scan at that point. I have been able to trigger
the mechanism into scan mode by manually activating the play control relay
switch. It moved just fine that way. I was missing the service switch assembly
because the original had been damaged at the plug receptacle. I bought a
replacement and plugged it in to test. I assumed that the mechanism was not
functioning because the absence of the service switches plug was leaving the
circuit to the mechanism open. The replacement service switch moved the play
control relay open and closed and the scan switch did its job with the switch as
well. The problem is that the mechanism would not budge with the switch in on
position and the scan engaged. Also, when a selection is made, there continues
to be no movement of the mechanism.

As I examined and tried to trouble shoot, the service switch eventually failed
to get a response at the play control switch and even more alarming, the
mechanism will not scan when i manually activate the play control switch.

I have the manuals, but I am no electrical engineer. I am also quite
frustrated. Any ideas????
