Grill Cleaning Seeburg DS

As my Seeburg DS's are working very well at this time, I thought it would be a good time to do some clean up duties. Two of the DS's have bright shiny grills, while the other two have a brown oxidation and/or cigarette residue on the louvers. Using a chrome polish I have been able to remove the vast majority of the build up in the area I have cleaned. It is very slow going due to the high number of small louvers that need to be cleaned .

Just curious if someone has a better method that would speed this project up?

Also, I think these December 1961 DS's, with twin ear speakers, have excellent sound qualities and should be added to the list in the post discussing the best sounding Jukeboxes!

We used to clean the grill on those with a liquid spray on de-greaser, and wash them off with a garden hose connected to a warm water source. In those days, we did not even remove the speaker--just waited a few days before firing it up--That was the first job I had, when I was hired as a "clean-up man" for a Seeburg distrib's music shop.
Yes I agree about the sound--however, if you really wanna hear it "Pop"--use a Pickering 345-07D/07S cartridge--- Ron Rich

No offense, but, I think I will skip the degreaser and hose method. I think a variable speed Dremel with a polishing pad and polishing compound is my best method.

If I dare ask, what is the difference between the Pickering Red Head cartridge I now have and the Pickering 345-07D/075 cartridge you mention?

You are, of course, entitled to your own opinion--I was just suggesting what I consider a EZier/faster/better way of doing it---
"Specs." on the 340 carts are better--something like 25-25khz on the original, and 16-to 36khz on the 340's. IMHO, they sound WAY better, when compared to the original that is using an aftermarket needle--a little better to an original using a gen-u-whine Pickering/Seeburg needle. Ron Rich
