EMGINN EXPERT IN GERMANY

by Guest » Mon Apr 07, 2008 6:00 pm

EBAY ITEM NR 270224646686
Today I won a treasure again in Munich germany.
I wonder how an EMGinn expert sounds different from an EMG.
I can't wait till I get my hands on this lovely gramophone...

Great score! Steve's our "EMG" expert, but I think you've done well. I don't think the case should have that decoration on it, but I could be wrong. It doesn't look like anything that can't be fixed, and for the price- I wouldn't complain! I think you'll be pleasently surprised by the sound quality.
Hopefully Steve will tune in, and be able to give us the full run-down.
Congrat's!!

I was the underbidder so Bert was very very lucky! :x :x :x :x

It is a Junior and has been re-motored with an electric motor (originally Collaro D30 spring type)

The decoration is probably a later addition too but the machine went cheap due to the seller handling it all very badly and not instilling any confidence in me.

I would point out too that the s/box is an early EMG which has been changed to an aluminium diaphragm from mica. You will know if there are letters "E M G" behind the crumpled diaphragm when you remove it. You really need an Expert s/box and I know where there is one for sale for ....er..... let me see know.......1000 Euros?!!!!!

Well, what do you expect from me under the circumstances?

At least Bert can get to see it before he hands over his over-valued Euros! LOL!
I used to be looking for things but now I've found them I don't look at them!

I will let you know how it turns out with the expert junior.

I love to try out different soundboxes and listen for the difference.
You should try an orchorsol soundbox like ebay item 160227925339
they sound pretty well on emg and fit like a glove.Very good for playing with steel needles.
The best results I achieved are with an HMV 5a.
You'll have to produce some kind of leather ring in order to fit it properly to the EMGneedle arm
but if you succeed in making it airtight it sounds fantastic.

HELLO BERT.,

I KNEW ABOUT HTIS EMGINN EXPERT IN EBAY GERMANY AUCTION.
I HAVE TRIED EMAILING THE SELLER TO ASK MORE ABOUT THIS GRAMOPHONE BUT GOT NO REPLY.
I WAS NOT SURE ON THE GRAMOPHONE - THE PICTURES SHOWN WERE VERY BLURRED.
I THOUGHT IT LOOKS LIKE AN EXPERT SENIOR. IT SHOULD BE BECAUSE OF THE SIZE OF THE HORN.

PLEASE TELL ME MORE ABOUT THIS GRAMOPHONE. IS IT IN GOOD ORDER/
HOW DOES IT SOUND?

MANY THANKS

JULIAN CHAN

JULIAN

You were not the only one who struggled with this particular seller!

BTW, it is a JUNIOR with a 24" diameter horn.

The horn sizes are as follows:

MINOR - 18" diameter
JUNIOR - 24" diameter
SENIOR - 28-29" diameter

ALL-RANGE Horn (only available on Senior model) - anything up to 36" diameter!
