Cartridge for Magnavox Imperial Micromatic

by ericrubalcava » Thu Dec 10, 2009 4:12 am

Model # 1ST672A

I'm looking for a cartridge replacement or stylus needle for a Magnavox Imperial Micromatic record player. Does anybody know where I could find one or what type of needle I can use as a replacement?

Thanks,

Eric

Get the numbers off the cartridge and/or needle. Try Ron's suggestion and also Garage-a-records. It's been a few years since I checked Radio Shack, I think their selection has gotten smaller. --BB

Yea, I just got a micromatic a couple of weeks ago, the needle I had to buy for it ds77. That's the website I got it from as well. The cartage I don't know about. Still trying to figure some of this stuff out.

I don't know which Micromatic you have, but if it's a W620 or newer series with the smaller EV275 or Astatic 165D style of cartridge, there's only one mounting screw (where my thumb is on the right) holding it in place.

If you remove the screw, the whole assembly will drop down and you'll see the numbers plus possibly a Magnavox number like 560345. There are subtle differences with these cartridges. Some needles snap in and fit snug, while some others are a bit wobbly. Some needles have a longer rear "stem" that prevents the needle from seating properly. I also show two DS77 needles. I believe one is for the Astatic cartridge and the other is for the ElectroVoice. I can't remember off hand, but they may be interchangeable. The D7 is just a single snap-in, no separate needle for 78's. I hope this helps you. Please see below. --BB
