Voice of Music Model 314 portable stereo

by wingnut049 » Sun May 13, 2012 3:54 pm

I have a V-M model 314 with speed issues. This is an old Ebay purchase that has never worked properly. The record changer is a smaller model and totally unlike any other V-M changer I've seen. Problem is that the speed control was "messed" with and there is nothing to keep the idler against the motor turret. Adding to the problem is that the changer guts for the speed control do not match the service manual from V-M for the 314. The speed control and the reject switch are on the same knob at the lower right of the changer (looking at it from the front). It does not have the speed control on the left and on/off/reject on the right. Also, the tone arm is of a different style than my other V-M changers. Anyone have any knowledge about this that I can pass off to my tech? Thanks, Jeff

Find a "tech" that doesn't require service info from the customer.
The Internet is a marvelous thing, however it's not a good substitute for actually being there.

Hi Matt -
He didn't "need" the service manual. I gave him everything I had with the 314. The parts I ordered and the manual. Like I mentioned this changer is unlike any other V-M changer I've seen, or own. Giving it some thought I believe the basic set up may be similar to the originaol Tri-O-Matic changers.
