I'm kinda new to the Juke world and I am looking at this Wurlitzer. The owner claims it worked when it was put in storage 15yrs ago. Now the mech hangs up when trying to pick up a record. It has a small crack in the corner of the glass but seems complete and in good condition otherwise. I am more familiar with newer machines and nothing this old. What should I be looking for in problem areas or expensive hard to find parts with this juke? What would be a fair price?

I sold the 200 selection version to a A&R man at Sony (NYC) for $900 in early 1989. It was fully washed, rebuilt modded with mag pickup and added horn tweeter. Original near-perfect chrome, retouched grill (with a few minor dents) and I had to buy a lower back door.

I'd paid $50 for the machine as-is in spring 1987.

The principal thing to remember with these machs is that they put a huge strain on the changer motor pulling down the lift arms.

The mach --must-- be kept lubed and the lift springs --should-- be stretched to weaken them and lower the strain acceptable levels. An added problem beginning with the 2700 series was the use of an AC changer motor which has small, less rugged gears than the original DC motor and the strain can break the gear box in these.

A general rule is to never plug in a machine that has been idle for 'years' w/out taking the mech through it's paces manually and giving a preliminary lube first. Then powering with amp high voltages removed (rect tube or in this case fuse) Keep a close eye on things.

I agree with Rob it is a Wurlitzer 2810 and 1964 as previously stated, I have never been into Wulitzers but if I was goin to buy one I would go for one a few years earlier like the 1961 2500, 2504 or 2510.

I paid 200 dollars for my 2800. It plays 200 selections. When I bought it I new it needed motor mounts and belts. After a "tune up" it has been great. These old things can turn into money pits pretty quick. I think i would be williing risk about 150 on it because it will take a few bucks to get it going.
