i haven't been able to locate any info online about this one. i have all the original paperwork, has anybody re-furbed any of these? I want to get this baby up and running and don't know where to start. It sounds like either the speakers or the wiring is shot.

Locate a reputable service tech familier with Magnavox in your area to perform the needed restorations due to aging/neglect.
The speakers in those rarely ever become defective.
The changers will need servicing as well.
Some special tools, parts and skills are required that are almost impossible to find today.

Once this is done, the unit will be reliable and safe to use for decades. - and last much longer and sound better than any chinese piece of crap.

thanks alot Matt. i haven't been around it for a while, as it's been in storage, but i really want to get it back to peak performance. glad to hear it may not be the speakers, i was not looking forward to finding 47 year old replacement ones. when you say 'service tech', do you mean a tv/radio repair place or a magnavox specific repair place? i don't even know if there's anyone around here anymore. how should i seek out said repair shop, ie what am i looking for in a repair tech... someone who works on antiques?

We're out there.
But get some background on them, not all are as thorough and experienced as me.
