Hi Roger,
OK you have me confuzzed--
The on/off switch on the cabinet rear switches only the "mains". It when switched on, will not start the scan, unless the mains was switched off while the motor was operating--
The"Service Switch" starts/stops the motor manually, when you operate it as per the instructions on it and in the I& O manual--
There is NO "Reset" switch on the rear of that cabinet-there is a "Reject", or "cancel" switch there, that is optional/operational, only if it is connected.
Is the motor currently running--if so, I assume the mechanism is either in the play mode, or has jammed and is sitting and spinning ?

Yes I meant Reject button and not reset button at the back ,the Reject button has worked before ,the power switch at the rear is switched on just lifted to top to look at the record selector and it has a record selected in it but no doing anything , as you say possible jammed .
I'm wondering but not sure if when it wouldn't stop selecting on it's own I may have pressed the reject button.... not sure .

Hi Roger,
Did you try to start the motor using the service switch ?? If not, try that --
If it still is not running, can you hear a "click" when you push the service switch handle to the "run position" ??
When was the last time this phonograph was PROPERLY oiled ??
Is the needle in the "end of record" position ??

Just reached round to the back and pressed the service switch and have a Click , not sure if I know how to see the needle to your question (Is the needle in the "end of record" position ??) . Got this last year from someone ( Harry Patterson )who sells them all the time and would think he would PROPERLY oiled ?

Just looked again , long arm ORANGE colour needle at the start of the record .

Hi Roger,
Do you have the"service Manual ? If so, look in the mechanism section, find the "detent release lever" and lift up on it--
As for "Harry"--I don't know him, and I sure do not know what he knows--have a hard time understanding what I THINK, I know !!!

found in the service manual the detent release lever , but will have to have a look in the morning as not sure as yet just which it is
and would think best to turn power off and use a torch .

Unless you wish to remove the mechanism cover, you needn't turn the power off--- Either way, just keep thy fingers clear of the electrical contact points in that area Ron Rich

Me again Ron ,
Just tried to get my hand to the detent release lever not a lot of room so not sure if I found it or not , tried to feel my way around to see if I could move something , switched jukebox on now back to playing records on it's own again , so when it was selecting the next record I tapped on the relay but still playing as it wants , just won't stop . Looking like I may need to get someone to come and look ? Have switched off before it selects another record .

Which plane would you like , could possibly pay for a Tiger Moth but not sure if you would get a big bag of tools in it . Anyway I will keep trying and when I have pulled my hair out I will get someone round .
What I would like to say is A BIG THANKS for all your help and will let you know when fixed , that way you won't have any more sleepless nights .

Just added this after looking one more time ... I found a lever which was down and said lets try it and moved it to the up position and what do you know it's seems to be working fine now , three records selected by me one after another . Looked in the Manual looking at the image
I think it's the Clutch Shifting Assembly and think I moved the Latch Lever spring . Happy Man now .

Hi, Roger, You should have given me a call, Yep the mech was oiled, and the speed unit recapped, I am pleased you bought a manual like I said but you did not read it like a novel several times over before something went wrong with the jukebox. When a jukebox goes wrong like that it is usually something simple unless the room is full of smoke Reading the manual several times will learn you what does what and what it is called, An old jukebox likes to be used so play it at least once a week even if it is just 2 or 3 records. And remember what I said about the credit button, Only press it for the records you going to select at the time, don't leave the latch bar solenoid energised all night.(refer to annual) Give me a ring anytime Roger I will help if I can.. pleased you got t working Harry

OK--Seeburg seemed to have a problem with the name of that lever--It is called the "Detent lever", Detent latch lever", "Trip lever" and "Release lever" in different editions of that explanation. Lifting that lever, should not have affected anything--that lever is released, each time the mechanism stops ("Seeburg ease"-- "Detents"), and at the end of every record--Lifting that lever allows the clutch to change position, and move the camshaft--- Ron Rich
