can anyone identify this victrola tone arm bracket

I bought this VE8-12X victrola at a flea market about 25 years ago and it had this tone arm support bracket on it then. I was wondering if anyone else has ever seen one like it? it works perfectly, as if it was designed for this purpose, but I am wondering if it is an aftermarket bracket of the time, or if it is actually a victor factory tone arm support bracket. anyone know?

Definitely a "home repair" job, but a very nice one. The problems associated with degrading pot metal did not surface until years after the Orthophonic Victrolas left the factory, and these models were long out of production, so this is not something Victor would have done.

While new tonearm supports are available, I'd leave this one, as-is, unless there is noticeable drag or shake. You might also want to make sure that steps were taken to insure that the area around the base of the tonearm is air tight. You could probably do this by inserting a grease soaked felt washer--if there isn't already one in place.

thanks for the imfo JDS, I think I will look into reproducing these barckets, they are a simple fix and completley adjustable in lenght ( there is a screw in the bottom that you can loosen to extend the reach of the pivot pin) and it also allows you to tilt it slightly to one side or the other if you need too. I need a tone arm bracket for a VV 4-40 I am restoring and not willing to pay $150.00 for one, and, I bet I'm not the only guy that would buy one of these if they were moderatly priced.
