seeburg flourescent tube/ballast replacement

by jimmac » Fri Dec 12, 2014 3:12 pm

Not a subject that I have found much info on. Just wondering what the thoughts are on replacement of the fluorescent lighting in a seeburg juke or any juke for that matter. Keep the original tubes/starter/ballast configuration (hard to find ballast)? Go with the t8 17w tubes instead of the t12 25 watt? upgrade to electronic ballast, no starters required ? (dimensions not square as original), find an led replacement for less heat output ? Thoughts and parts purchased list appreciated.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi again Ron, just thinking forward to all the other restoration tasks with my Seeburg 222, lights included. The original ballast is leaking black goop & the two fluorescent tubes were missing too. BTW, the manual states that the tubes are 25", T12, 25w but reading online seems to indicate they should be 28" T12 25w. Then there are also newer 18W, 28", T8 that are available. What's a restorer to do ?

Thank you,
Jim

Jim,
They are 28 inch lamps--use whichever you wish-T-12 lamps are still available here --
