Rockola 474

by Rfrancis01 » Thu Dec 04, 2014 2:45 am

I have a 474 everything is working except intermittently when selecting a "b" side the record will select pick up drop on the turn table and begin to play for 2 seconds then trip the mechanism breaker. The only way to correct is to spin the motor by hand to put the record back in the carousel then reset breaker and it re selects it and plays. Any ideas? Thanks. Robert

Hi
perhaps when the record has been placed on the turntable the gripper arm is binding slightly in the b side position and causing the gripper arm to trip the breaker

Hi Robert,
Lack of proper lubrication is causing the gripper motor to stall prior to fully "opening up". This is probably both in the motor, and gripper itself. I suggest you remove the motor, clean/oil it with 20 wt. motor oil, and really oil the gripper, well, at the same time. Ron Rich
