Distorted sound. 1950 RCA RP-190 45rpm player

I just rebuilt a 45 player as stated in subject line. Mechanically was working perfect. I coated the changer cam with plastidip. The motor drive wheel rubber was kind of hardened so I decided to also coat those wheels with the plastidip. I figured if it worked I had nothing to lose. Well I tested it and it worked perfect so I went after replacing the cartridge with the retrofit kit from voice of music. Got that all in and test the machine. Nice loud sound but music sounds all warbly and distorted. I thought perhaps I didn't get a good smooth surface on the drive wheel and it might be vibrating the turntable. I could feel a slight rumble when touching the housing. So I pulled the Motor and peeled the plastidip off the turntable portion of the wheel. Tested again and still warbly but now it sticks when changing the record so I'm thinking I need a new drive wheel but what's causing the warble? Could it still be the drive wheel? I don't mind spending the $30 if I know it will fix it but if it still warbles with the new wheel I'm going to be a bit ticked off.
I didn't peel the plastidip off the large part of the wheel that gets turned by the motor.

All that wasted effort to jury-fix those on-the-cheap will not provide satisfactory results.

The only proper solution is to invest in a new idler wheel and cycle cam wheel from Gary at VM.
Motor flushing, relubing and mech attention, etc.
Additionally, the amplifier should be fully serviced.

I've done enough of them for customers to know, and also own a pristine 45-EY-2.

Wasn't that much effort and I enjoy working on things like this. The cam wheel repair works flawlessly. I just took a gamble and tried the same repair on the drive wheel. I was prepared for disappointment but I hadn't yet replaced the cartridge so it appeared to be successful at first. I cleaned and relubed the motor and mechanisms. I will order a new wheel from Gary at VoM.
The amplifier is going up on the bench next for a full recap.
