Several weeks ago I stupidly left my Webcor Maestro turned on with the lid down for several days. Needless-to-say I "baked" the tubes, resistors, and wiring. My tech suggested finding a doner unit. That's where I stand now. The Maestro I have is the brown one in beatiful physical condition. It played like a champ until I got stupid. HELP!!
Hi Ron - Never expected to meet you on here. I read your posts all the time on the Seeburg website (own 2). The phonograph was almost too hot to touch when I discovered my blunder. The tech said that the tubes were blistered and a resistor and wires were damaged. However, I highly value your opinion. I refuse to give this little machine up. It looks so nice and used to play well.
I have never seen a piece of tube equipment that could not take continuous use.
Maybe the idler wheel in the changer could be hurt by the heat, but not the electronics. This guy is either out of touch with tube equipment, or is trying to wheedle it away from you.
