Rockola 496-2 TT motor problem

Original problem was motor would drag occasionally. When I looked at it, I noticed the TT was moving very slowly all the time. I mean barely moving. Powered down until I could look at it. Had a chance today to look at it and motor is dead. I am suspicious of the sc141b triac that I THINK switches the motor off and on. I this this because it never actually cut off completely. Like it was leaking thru. Any opinions or experience with this? Know good replacements?

Eddie: sounds like a problem I've been through. Take a look at this topic thread:
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=6889&p=30088&hilit=rockola+490+turntable#p30088 . The triac was the problem on mine and the phonograph has been working fine since replacement.

I am not 100% sure of this, but I believe a NTE 5608 Triac will work in this circuit--it's a TO 220 case. If you want a higher rated Triac, use NTE
# 5610 ( or,sometimes marked "56010"), or 2N6348. Ron Rich
