Takis, I don't have a schematic for the later WQ series that the rect is in, but on the WRA-on the there are a number of diodes instead of one rectifier.
The coin coils are DC.
The credit cancel coil is DC.
There is an odd filter-diode circuit that puts halfwave DC on the motor to slow it during the credit step-up .
The motor control and "bonus" relays are DC operated.
At the time when I had the WQ boxes I simply replaced the caps, washed them and after playing around with them for a while, traded them for more Seeburg 200's. Their pulse train is not compatible with the Seeburg so I couldn't use them.
In all pre-digital wallboxes that I have seen the transformer only powers the lights. I don't understand how it could cause the motor to hum, but it could certainly blow the main (28VAC in) fuse.
