I am new around here. Looks cool.

I have my eye on the Seeburg LPC-1 at a thrift shop. How do you open the bottom doors below the menu so I can check to see that all parts are in it.

Also how should I go about restoring it. I have never done that but am interested in doing it since I have a decent record collection. Pointers, heads-ups, references, and opinions welcome.

I would suggest that you purchase all of the manuals available for that model machine, or any other thing you buy "blind". After all, even if you can figure out how to open the doors(lift and prop dome glass, and you will find a "twist and pull rod " dead center --up front, under the dome prop rod. Pull it up and the RH lower door should be unlocked, LH door has a "spin catch" top and bottom) , how do\will you know what is "supposed" to be there or what might have been an "option" (assuming you can see something is "missing"). Books re available at http://www.alwaysjukin.com and elsewhere--just be sure to order the SET--
As for restoring it--that would depend entirely on your skills in the area of electro/mechanical items, and "'wood working"---If you wish, I do repair/restore all components used in that model phono, except for the "Income totalizer unit".

Thanks for the help. I have been doing a bit of quick research and while a heavy challenge I think I am up to it. Just gotta figure out a way to get it home. WAY HEAVY. Thanks for the help and I am sure I will be back.

You are welcome !--Suggestions on transporting it. Remove the mechanism and all of the "slide-out " units. This will make it much lighter.
The mech comes out the rear of the phono after removing that large rear panel. There should be two "pins" under the mech that need to be removed ( and of course, the cables) and the whole unit slides out. Be sure to LOCK the dome glass ! Ron Rich

Howdy folks. Well I purchsed the Seburg LPC-1 and have it at home now. The first thing I did was clean out most of the dust. The unit came with the original manual and a couple of reciepts from when the former owner had replaced the TCC back in 83' and the old TCC was also inside. So after I replaced the dry rotted power cord with a new one and rewired the power supplies I plugged it in and it kinda worked. The tubes in the TCC started to glow and the whole mechanism did its scan. Now on to the heavy work.

The unit is missing the totalizer unit. How can I get the thing to play a record if this part is missing. I.E. how do I make it play a record for free or how can I by-pass the whole coin operation?

Second how should I proceed in checking the Amp Unit and the Speed Control unit?

Any and all suggestions are welcome. Thank you in advance.

Congrats !!
You don't need a Totalizer to make it work. You do need to oil it with the proper oil, and then attempt to play it--see what it does, as far as the Amp and AS--
As for "bi-passing" the coins, I suggest that you not attempt that--there is a fire hazard doing so--
Do you have a copy of the "Trouble Shooting Guide" ?

How do I make it work as far as playing the record. I am at a loss here since I have no coin unit to put a coin in so how do I "trick" the machine to play.

Do you have the "I&O Manual" ? It should show you how to use the Service switch to add credits--If you have the APU-- Ron Rich
