1967 Magnavox Astro-Sonic TV/stereo/phono

by troybraswell » Sun Oct 21, 2007 7:20 pm

I recently acquired this little beauty and was told everything works just fine. I've figured out how to work the record player and stereo but I'm having trouble figuring out how to turn on the TV. Any insight? I can send someone pictures if they need to see the dials on the set. It's Model # 2RT590S. Made in Fort Wayne, Indiana. 117v, 60cy, Watts 375.

Thanks! Troy

Usually the controls are on the face of the TV set, and are totally separate from the stereo. Look for the following methods which were used:

- The TV volume control turns on when you rotate it away from lowest volume, and turns off when you turn the volume all the way down.

- The TV volume control pulls out to turn on, and pushes in to turn off.

- A pushbutton you push in to turn on, and push again so it pops out to turn off.

- There is a little bar you press to turn it on or off.

- One TV I used had off to the left of channel 2 on the channel knob.

- A few require the remote control.

- A TV position on the stereo selector turns on the TV.

My old console had a separate power cord for the TV part.
