Zenith X960 Update

by Thom » Wed Jun 18, 2014 3:34 am

Dead channel has been repaired. It had 2 bad transistors (I may have taken one out myself) so I replaced all 4 from the push-pull section of the amp with matching pairs along with all the ecaps. It also had a bad ecap that was shunting the signal to ground on the left channel of the preamp which got replaced with all the rest of them. The changer is already finished and I have been burning it all in for the past week. Now my next task is to restore the worn finish on the cabinet. I plan on using Howard's Restore-a-Finish and then follow up with Butcher's Amber paste wax. So far so good...

Vinyl is disease which attacks that area of the brain desiring digital recordings. Once you catch it, you are cured.
